Grown Alchemist Skin Defense Primer has a gel-like texture that is velvety smooth, and glides effortlessly onto my skin to prep for makeup application. Love it!

What a beautiful product! I loved the texture, which looks like a gel. It applies really well, it leaves a nice feeling of freshness on the skin and it makes my foundation last all day! I also liked the citrus scent of the product!

Good for every day!

The lightweight gel formula makes this primer very easy to apply and it absorbs into my skin very quickly. I enjoy the citrusy scent, I even notice it on my skin a few hours after application. I wouldn’t say this has a completely mattifying finish, as I still appeared shiny along my nose, but the rest of my face was matte. I wouldn’t call the formula drying, but I can’t wear this on its own, I need to pair it with my regular moisturizer or else my skin looks a little dry. Luckily I didn’t experience any product pilling or lifting when applying my foundation on top of the primer. I will most likely continue to use this as I do like that it protects my skin from environmental exposure.

My new obsession!

OMG. I am seriously obsessed. It is so light weight it’s not even funny. I have never experienced such a light and airy primer before. I honestly don’t feel like I am wearing anything at all on my face. I would recommend this for most skin types. I’m not sure where this has been my whole teenager/adult life, but I am here for this! It has such a minimal scent. This is a perfect 10/10 from me!

My favourite primer

I received this primer for free in exchange for my honest opinion
It's an anti pollution and pore minimizing primer.
Ingredients include Reishi Mushroom, Ashwagandha and pre-biotic peptides. I use it after my moisturizer and I love the silky texture of this lightweight gel. It's also very hydrating and I love how it blurs my pores and fine lines.
It glides easily and my skin looks smoother. I can wear alone or under foundation. A big plus is that it defends my skin against environmental aggressors and pollution.

Blurred Pores Instantly

It has a bit of a scent to it, kind of minty. It is a blurring primer, that instantly blurred all the pores on my face. It has a cooling sensation when you first apply it, which is quite refreshing. A little bit goes a long way, it’s very smooth on the face. Good face primers are hard to find. I also greatly appreciate the fact that it helps protect your skin barrier and has anti-pollutant protection. I think this is a great addition to my makeup routine.

Works well but the smell is godawful

This primer seems to work well and helps my makeup last longer. I have pretty oily skin and this kept my oils at bay. However, I can’t get past the scent. It’s so strong of herbs that it smells like putting pesto on your face. I can’t handle it so I won’t use it anymore.

This is a really great primer!

Sharing my honest review of the Grown Alchemist Skin Defense Primer. I received this free from Butterly to try! My overall thoughts have been that it works well to keep my face makeup wearing longer and looking better. I have tried it with a few concealers as well as with a skin tint, stick and a matte foundation. It helped each one wear so much better and wear longer. My skin is combination and oily in the t-zone and matte foundation always breaks up badly but with this primer it looks good after a few hours. So far it has not caused me to break out but I have only used it for 3 days so further use is needed.

It claims to protect skin, lightweight, hydrating, glide over skin and blur as well as prep the skin for makeup! It does all of those things well! It has a citrus and herbal scent that does disappear after a few minutes after applying. I really love this primer so far and I will consider buying it myself.

Love its cooling effect

Grown Alchemy is fast becoming a go-to brand for me. I love the natural smell of its products, and this Skin Defense primer was no different. The texture is somewhat fine grainy and leaves the face feeling cool and matte. I have sensitive skin and haven't had any adverse reactions in the past 5 days I have used this product. This is great and goes perfectly under any makeup.
