Perfect for travel!

What a cute duo! First off, love the hair quiz, super easy to answer and the recommendation is pretty spot on.

Let’s talk about the positives. I appreciate the container as it made storing and drying the product without any mess. There are holes at the bottom which so the bars are dried and stored properly in it. I wish all bar haircare comes with something like this.

I also love the shampoo, it lathered really well and did an amazing job at cleansing my hair. Bonus, it rinsed off easily!

Now to the not so good part, I am not a fan of the conditioner. It was really tricky to use. I tried running it under water in between my hands and it felt like nothing. Then I tried rubbing it through my wet hair and it also felt like I’m not getting anything. What I was successful in was dropping the bar onto the shower floor 3 times. So this was a no for me. I’m sure there is a better and easier way to use this conditioner but I’m not a fan so far.

Will purchase the full size in a heartbeat but the conditioner is not for me.

A great alternative to plastic at a great price

Butterly and Canadian company Jack59 have teamed up to send me a Weekend Edition Travel Set which includes shampoo and conditioner bars. Y'all know how I'm looking for the most sustainable life choices possible in terms of the environment, the ethical treatment of workers, and my pocketbook, so I am very happy about this opportunity!

I love the packaging and how practical this set is. The bars come in a compostable shower container with drainage holes, all of it packaged in a cardboard box. So 10/10 when it comes to product sustainability!

The set retails at CA$32, with refills costing $7.25 each. The website says that an 80 gram bar can be used at least 80 times, so the travel bar, which weighs 15 grams, should last 15 times at least. If 100mL of shampoo gets you around 10 washes (according to Google), and the average price for 400 mL of shampoo that five of my friends use is $15, it means that you are paying more for these bars. However, the friends I asked use shampoos like Dove and Shea Moisture, whereas it seems like a better comparison might be Aveda, which retails at $20 for 250 mL -- this makes Jack59 prices much more affordable comparatively. To top this off, the company's website says that the bars are made in Canada from ethically sourced ingredients, so with the above price comparisons in mind, I feel like these bars are a great deal.

But do they work? I did the hair quiz on the Jack59 website and got the Serenity Set and while it leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean, it doesn't work for my curls. I'm not sure if it's because I only got to use it for 7 days before having to post a review. However, there are 11 other options available, so I have a feeling that with some trial and error, I'll be able to find the right combination of bars for my hair. As for the experience of using a bar instead of a liquid, it was better to use a bar because I felt I had more control over where and how much product I could work in.

I'd recommend giving the bars a go. The website has a nifty travel buddies trial pack with five different bars. I'd suggest getting together with a few friends to buy a trial pack and trying the different formulas out before committing. If your budget is tight, you don't have to buy the travel set; just like any soap, you can just dry your bars before packing them up in whatever container you already have.

A must-have for travel

I got the Jack59 shampoo and conditioner travel set for a sensitive scalp, and it’s been great. The shampoo cleans well without irritation, and the conditioner is lightweight but still leaves my hair soft. I also love how compact and mess-free the bars are—perfect for travel. The scent is beautiful, very spa-like and relaxing, which makes the whole experience even better. They last longer than I expected, and overall, I’m really happy with this set, especially since finding scalp-friendly hair products can be tricky!

Fabulous set

The bars work with just a little water to efficiently take care of even curly, thick hair like mine. I was sent a travel set of the Citrus Shine set, and tried it for a week. My picky dry hair and dry scalp have done amazingly well with them, in a little set that can pop into a small travel bag instead of those awkward monster plastic bags full size bottles need. 

The shower container is used for both storing and drying the bars as it's aerated on the bottom, and is made of 100% compostable material. The bars are ready to be packed by morning if you shower at night.

The Citrus Shine shampoo bar leaves my hair just a touch squeaky, but the conditioner bar is the best conditioner bar I EVER tried and is in my top 5 conditioners of all time period. It's that good, and I literally just need to wet it, rub it in my hands and them over my hair, comb it though, and then rinse a couple of minutes later. Never in my life before have I used so little conditioner for such good results. 

My hair feels very soft and healthy and has been looking nice and shiny, especially on day 2, which is always my best hair day!

A great little duel!

This was my first time trying a bar shampoo and conditioner and I was definitely skeptical at first!
I've now tried this for over a week and love it! It is so small and compact that you can throw it into a gym bag or an overnight bag and not take up a lot of room. The shampoo bar does such an amazing job at cleaning your hair, I feel like my current shampoo hasn't actually been cleaning it! The conditioner bar also works amazing leaving my hair feeling soft!

Ever thought about trying solid shampoo and conditioner?

I have always been curious but never really had the chance to explore this world – until now! I recently tried the Jack59 Weekend Edition Travel Set, and I am honestly impressed. I was hesitant to try solid shampoo because of my long hair. I thought it would be hard to use and would not foam up well. Turns out, I was wrong! The Jack59 mini shampoo lathers up quickly and easily. The bar is just the right size to work into my hands for a good foam and then apply to my hair. I also thought it might melt too fast, but that is not an issue at all – a little goes a long way! The scent is a natural, herbal one, but it is subtle and not overpowering. After one use, my hair feels clean, smooth, and shiny, and I do not even need to do a second round of shampooing. It does not weigh my hair down and seems to help with frizz and detangling. The conditioner bar is a bit trickier to massage into my hands because of its shape, but still manageable. It has a similar scent to the shampoo and leaves my hair soft and shiny.

What I love most about this set is how compact it is – so convenient for travel or even for my work bag when I need a quick shower after a long day. Though I am not traveling soon, I am definitely planning to keep this on hand for those moments!

Im converted!!!

Okay, I’ll be honest—I never thought I’d be the kind of person to use shampoo and conditioner bars. I’ve always just squeezed product out of a bottle without thinking twice. But after trying the Jack 59 Serenity set, I am completely converted.

It’s just so convenient to use. The shampoo bar lathered up so nicely—especially on the second wash. You know how most shampoos barely lather the first time? Same thing here. But that second round? Rich, creamy lather with barely any product. I was shocked at how little I needed.

Then I used the conditioner bar—just 8 swipes down my hair, let it sit for a few minutes, and rinsed. My hair felt so smooth, soft, and light. I seriously couldn’t believe how well it worked.

I’m honestly baffled in the best way. Once I finish the last of my bottled stuff, I’m 100% sticking with Jack 59 and will definitely be buying from them again. Total game changer.

Perfect for Travel

Shampoo and conditioner in a bar?
Jack59 sent me their travel kit to try out. I have never used a shampoo in bar form before, but I liked this one. It was easy to use and lathered up nicely. My hair felt clean and refreshed after, and the scent didn't linger.
The conditioner was another story. It worked really well in terms of conditioning my hair, but it was harder to use. It was hard to gauge how much conditioner I was putting in my hair. I also kept dropping it. I feel if the conditioner bar was a bit softer, it would be easier to use.

Love this shampoo but small in size

love Jack59 serenity set which i choose from quick hair quiz. Vegan, gluten-free yet foamy when comes in contact with wet hair. It has made post gym shower very convenient as this duo comes with compostable case and can be tossed in bag for travel. Jack59 is Canadian brand even more reason to love.
