    Not Too Bad

This meal starter has no artificial colours or flavors and is easy-peasy to make. One skillet and a few simple ingredients is all it takes. I followed the instructions exactly and found that the barley cooked up beautifully and the chicken was moist and tender. It was a little salty but the flavor was fine. I received this product for free from the #FamilyRated Club in exchange for an honest review. #tryknorr #gotitfree

You are basically two ingredients away from doing it yoursel

I received this item free from ChickAdvisor to assess. This required chicken, carrots, cauliflower and raisins to complete but when you read the directions you are also advised to lightly flour the chicken too. So basically you get a bag of barley with some spices. At this point you might as well cook from scratch.

The directions are fairly easy. i skipped flouring the chicken as i do not keep flour in my house. Sauted the chicken with some olive oil. added carrots, water and contents of the sachet and simmered. Added cauliflower and finished cooking. Although instructions suggest 10 more mins best to watch the pot at this point. i found at 8 minutes and 2 minutes off heat the dinner was ready.

overall the taste is ok. I skipped the raisins, again as i did not have any in the house, and found the spices a bit sweet so i would have found it too sweet. also i found the recipe overly salty. directions call for added salt with chicken but do not do this as it will be way too salty if you are used to a low salt diet. I like barley. i do try to eat it more and this was a nice change but honestly a spice mix was all that was really needed. not certain i would buy.
