little over two months ago I purchased the Kodak ESP 3250 for personal in home use. I made the purchase at my local Wal Mart on a day that it happened to be on a sale for around $65. I purchased this printer as Kodak was a name that i have been familiar with since I was a little kid. I also loved that it was a reasonable price and that it had all the options i had been searching for including the ability to scan, copy and print hi-quality photos.
When i brought it home the first thing I did was take it out of the box only to soon after discover that I would have to return to Wal Mart to purchase the cord to connect the printer to my computer. I hadn't seen anywhere on the box while in the store that said i would need to purchase anything additional. I stomped my feet a few times, whined and groaned and finally put on my shoes and headed back to Wal Mart. The additional cord cost another $15 and was only about six feet which i was not to thrilled about. With cord in hand I headed home and began the process of setting it up.
Within minutes I was able to print from my computer and copy. I loved that I also had the option of inserting my camera memory card into the printer and printing directly from it.
I soon became frustrate again when I tried to scan a photo and no matter what buttons i pressed, what trouble shooting steps I took I could not get the scanner to communicate with my Dell Laptop directly through the Kodak software that came with the printer. After some more foot stomping I decided to scan directly from the computer setting which was also confusing but I did get it to work.
I've had the printer for about two months now and have had to replace the ink twice. I don't use the printer daily only a few times a week to print out paperwork here and there. Although the ink is cheap compared to other similar printers it was a little frustrating that it didn't last longer. The printer also has also started to "chew" on the paper as it is being fed through which has lead to more wasted ink and a lot of wasted paper. I tried troubleshooting this with no success.
I think if i were to purchase a printer again in the future i would spend a little extra money to get a higher quality product.
