so you apply it to wet hair and you are suppose to get a lather ,I didn't get a lather but you can definately tell the difference in your scalp after some gentle massaging. It also makes your hair feel like you have used one of those residue removing shampoos I thought the price a might high $13.99 but if I remember correctly that was a sale price , anyway it will last some time, I think. Very happy with it's performance I followed this with the Ever Fresh Shampoo
