Great Tool
This Mastercraft Connectable Contour Gauge, 5-in is such a handy tool especially if you do construction or DIY projects around the house. It helps measure around obstacles like pipes or measure areas like baseboard and moulding for the precise cut. It’s super handy and a great size. Once measured, you can easily lock in the shape and not worry about incorrect results.
Handy Tool
I received the Mastercraft five-inch Contour Gauge to try out for free. I like that you can measure in inches or centimeters on both sides of the tool. I like that you can connect unlimited gauges as needed for reading longer objects. The gadget felt strong and durable. It's not a tool that you would use very often, but it is very handy to have available in your toolbox.
Overall, I recommend this tool.

Handy for perfect cuts
When this arrived of all the tools I had selected I'd be interested in reviewing, my first thought was WHY DID I SAY YES TO THIS? I let it sit around for a days in the house while I googled what to use it for and how. When we finally did really decide to use it, it turns out it is a pretty useful tool. We recommond the contour gauge if you're cutting tiles or skirting. It seems to be sturdy and actually easy to use once it stops intimidating you from afar. Wish we had this when we were cutting decorative wall panels. Recommend.
Practical Gauge for Home Improvements
I’ve found the Mastercraft Connectable Contour Gauge, 5-inch model to be a really practical tool for working around irregular shapes, curved edges, and tight spaces. For flooring, trim work, woodworking, or tiling, it gives a reliable way to capture complex shapes and transfer them onto the material for cutting. The simple "press, lock, and trace" mechanism makes it very easy to use, and the compact size helps me get into awkward spots where a larger gauge wouldn’t fit. The quality of it feels solid and sturdy without being heavy. I also like the connectable system: being able to link this 5-inch gauge with the larger 10-inch version to handle wider shapes adds a lot of flexibility without making the tool bulky. This 5-inch version does have a few limits because it’s not ideal for very large moldings or long stretches of trim. Still, for my small to medium home projects, the balance of durability, accuracy, and ease of use makes it a really useful part of my DIY toolkit. All things considered, I think the 5-inch Mastercraft Connectable Contour Gauge is a clever, practical way to swiftly and precisely capture challenging forms. It won’t replace high-end professional tools, but for everyday projects, it performs really well and feels like a small “genius” invention that takes a lot of frustration out of detailed work. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone doing home improvement.
Good for DIY short for a PRO
I was gifted this this 5ʺ contour gauge, and was hoping for an easy way to replicate odd shapes for tiling and woodworking.
Been testing it for around a week and overall, it works. The plastic pins conform smoothly to curves and edges, giving a better than expected accurate outline without marring the original surface. Its connectable design is a nice detail (you can join it with a larger gauge for bigger jobs) which adds versatility when doing flooring or trim work.
It feels lightweight and durable enough for occasional DIY use, and it’s simple even if you’re not a pro. If I had one gripe, it would be that on very large or deeply contoured surfaces the 5ʺ length feels a bit limiting unless you connect more pieces.
