Good for vegans

I loved the fact that it is so quick to cook. An easy snack for a busy day. The packaging is impressive - showcases the product well. The texture of the dumplings is good. I liked the flavor too but just not sure about the 'chicken' in the flavor.

Unfortunately, I wasnt sold

I picked up Plantropy’s Jackfruit Dumplings because at 7.99, the price is actually great for a plant-based meal. One of the biggest barriers to going veg is cost, and this totally solves that. Plus, it’s frozen, so it’s perfect for those “oops, I forgot to defrost dinner again” nights.

But here’s where it lost me: the flavour just wasn’t there. It needed more seasoning, more spice, more… something. I’ve tried Plantropy’s kebabs before and those are genuinely great, so I had high hopes. The dumplings just didn’t hit the same. And portion-wise? Definitely not enough for 2 (even with a side) which makes the price per person a smidge higher. So unfortunately, this one wasn’t a win for me. Loved the price. Loved the convenience. But the taste and portion size just didn’t deliver. 🤷‍♀️

Work from home lunch just got an upgrade with these crispy Plantropy jackfruit chicken dumplings, and a quick homemade dipping sauce. Plant based, high in fiber, and you are not sacrificing taste or texture at all.🥟 Found at Loblaws/ Real@Canadian Superstore, and absolutely worth the hype.

Healthy vegan dumplings but flavor is not for me.

I love that it is plant based, healthy and rich in fibre but it really has a very unique flavor that I couldn’t eat it as is. If there is a dip or soysauce then it will taste better. It has a slight kick of spicy flavor . I like how it is easy to prepare but overall, I’m not a fan of the flavor.

I didn’t know jackfruit could be this good!

This was a great quick meal while on a 12 hour shift! I work in mental health and don’t always have time to make myself something nutritious to eat while on shift, but this was great to have for lunch at work! It took 5 minutes to prepare and it’s so delicious. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because (like a lot of gluten free products) the dumpling wrappings didn’t hold together very well and stuck to the pan.

A quick meal

Plantropy Jackfruit Chicken Dumplings-
I have been really enjoying trying all kinds of jackfruit offerings and these dumplings are great. I love how they were so easy to cook. I pan fried mine and they were ready from frozen in a few minutes. We needed a quick filling addition to our meal on a busy night and these were perfect. They taste great!
They are free of cholesterol, rich in fibre, zero trans fat, soy, gluten, sugar and sulphite free

I picked them up at The Real Canadian Superstore and they are available at Loblaws stores as well.

The best dumplings I’ve had in a while

I love these jackfruit dumplings! These are my Favorite snack from plantropy so far! The taste was nice and slightly spicy. The texture was chewy but also crispy! It was also super easy to prepare! I sautéed for a bit then steamed! 10/10 recommend!

Not vegan but not bad!

Quick and easy to make for busy mamas! It has a unique flavor - good to eat by itself or with a dip. Good as a side, appetizer or a late night snack. I'm not vegan but this was new for me and not bad!

Delicious Vegan Dumplings kid approved

This week I received a free package of Plantropy's Jackfruit vegan "chicken" dumplings to test. We are not a vegan family but enjoy all different varieties of food. My entire family tried them except for the three year old who was having a grumpy food day. Everyone who ate them was positive about the complex flavor and good texture of the food (I did not tell the children what flavor the dumplings were so they would have no prejudices against what they were eating). My daughters especially really enjoyed them and gave them a "five star" review score. My husband who is pretty critical about dumplings (being one of his favorite foods) also gave it a positive review "for it not actually being chicken it was really good." I also really enjoyed the dumplings and would have them again as a side dish in a meal (they are higher in salt then what we normally serve to the kids albeit the fruit fibre content is great). They were quick and easy to prepare and were a fun and different side dish for our meal.

Amazing meat alternative

I was actually shocked by how good this meat alternative was. The texture is super close to regular pepperoni, and the flavor has that perfect salty, smoky vibe without being greasy or heavy. It cooks really well too — I pan-fried a few pieces and they got that nice little crisp on the edges, then baked perfectly on my pizza.

What impressed me most is that it’s fully vegan and free of basically everything: no cholesterol, no gluten, no soy, no sugar, no sulphites, zero trans fat… but somehow still tastes amazing. It’s also high in fibre and really versatile, so you can use it for way more than just pizza.

My boyfriend tried it without knowing it was plant-based and actually loved it, which says everything. Definitely one of the best meat alternatives I’ve tried — flavor, convenience, and ingredients are all 10/10.
