Good concept, bad product

I received the shade "dark brown" free for review from ChickAdvisor. First of all, this is a wonderful concept, especially for those who colour their hair like me. I also LOVE this brand and own several other products, but this one just didn't make the cut. The shade was a perfect match. My issue is that the container itself, though it claims to have a precise nozzle, is the opposite. The brown stuff comes out so fast, and it concentrates one dot in your roots rather than spread it evenly like a dry shampoo. I tried to use my fingers to spread it, and it just stained them. Once you have this part figured out, it looks good. But the downside is that if you touch it with your hands, or touch a scarf/shirt after, it will transfer. If you sleep with it, it also transfers to pillowcases. It does wash out easily, but honestly, this isn't an "every day" product because it's hard to work with and takes a while to make it work (Like, 20 minutes, that's way too long). I'd only use it if I literally was covering up my root regrowth/greys for a day or two before needing to get a touch-up. I wouldn't use it on a day to day basis. You may as well use brown eyeshadow for the same effect but with minimal transfer - Just my opinion.

Too messy

I tried the dark brown schwarkopf root retoucher from chickadvisor for free. I was really excited to try something to cover my grey quick for those in between hair appointment times. I shook the bottle like it said (which by the way was the only instruction on the bottle). Then I went to work at covering my grey roots. I found the product to be very messy and the spray came out drippy which created dark blotches on my hair. I found the colour to be perfect but the application was not easy. I would not recommend this product for that reason.

SCHWARZKOPF ROOT RETOUCHER

I received SCHWARZKOPF ROOT RETOUCHER in color dark brown from Chickadvisor for free. Unfortunately, this product didn't work for me. Every time when I touched my hair, it made my hands dirty.

Would not buy again as it's too messy.

I received the Dark Brown Schwarzkopf Root Retoucher and was very disappointed in the application of the product. While it was effective in covering my grey areas, it was the messiness that I could not tolerate. The mist from the spray went onto my counters and my hands. If I touched my hair even after an hour in the area where product was sprayed, my hands would get dirty. I would not recommend it to others as it is very messy.

Covers well but...

I received a trial of this product to review. I have dark brown hair that I colour on a regular basis to cover the gray and silver streaks that are coming through. I was excited to try this product!

First thing I noticed is no instructions on how to use it. I mean, pretty straightforward but still. Beyond the warning to "SHAKE WELL" on the front of the bottle, there are no other directions to use. So. I shook well. I first sprayed in a burst fashion but that caused the product to actually drip from the tip, onto my skin and bathroom sink. It stains. Not impressive. So I covered my shoulders with a towel and tried again, this time using longer sprays. It covers fairly easily and well enough to satisfy me. I didn't go for total coverage....I just wanted to try it quickly....but I think it will work well for when I want coverage between colouring. Would I actually go out and buy it (I believe it retails between $15 and $20 locally)? Undecided, only because I am not thrilled at having the stain marks on my skin where the product dripped. I really didn't need more freckles. The application is direct but a little messy which I why I gave it 3.5 stars in Quality.

(I did upload 2 files but only 1 is showing. That is the "After" look. I did have approximately 1" of gray/brown showing at my roots.)

I received the Schwarzkopf® Root Retoucher™ in Dark Brown from ChickAdvisor to test & share my thoughts on. The product is a spray-in temporary root retouching colour, for settling down those *ahem* silvery bits that keep showing up at my roots. Packaging is pretty much as expected—small, easy-to-hold metal canister with a plastic snap-on cap. The spray nozzle is a bit different in that it has a small tube attached, allowing for precise application to the root areas. I did find that the 2nd day I went back to use the product, that little applicator nozzle was clogged—it worked itself out, but by shooting a couple of chunks of dried colour out of it (did I want that in my hair? Nope!).

The colour applied easily to where I wanted it, but even with a fairly light application seemed to take longer to dry than expected. Oh & keep in mind, you’re spraying a propellant directly onto your hair/scalp, so it’s gonna be COLD for a sec. Grey coverage was pretty good & would likely be even better with building up the application a bit. I did like that it didn’t seem to dry completely flat & dull—it wasn’t shiny, but did have a satiny sheen to it.

Enter the hubby…he knew I was going to play with my hair, but didn’t know *what* I was doing. Looks it over, smiles, says it looks good, runs his fingers through it, yep still soft & touchable. Then, & I quote “Ummmm, wifey, what the heck?!?” His fingertips were covered in brown from the product, & this was over 2 hours after I had applied it. No bueno. Also not good was the amount of product that ended up on my pillowcase—it just seemed that this transferred excessively, even for a temporary product.

Bottom line: Would I purchase this? Maybe, if I needed a quick & easy touch-up for a party or event, but for the normal I-don’t-have-time-for-the-hairdresser days, I’d say nope. YMMV, of course. :)
