This was my first vibrator, and I would definitely recommend it for any other first time buyers. It's great for external stimulation and has seven settings; as long as the batteries aren't running down the power is really good. It can be a bit noisy, but if you wrap the batteries in paper it cuts the sound down a lot. Plus it's not as intimidating as the larger diameter products. The only time I've had a problem with it was when I put the batteries in the wrong way - it would still turn on, but none of the settings would work and I couldn't turn it off, but once I figured out the problem it was fine. $32 is a good price if you're looking for something good and reliable but can't afford silicone.

For first time buyers, don't buy any product that is made from "jelly," which is this gross substance that attracts bacteria like nothing else. Check to make sure the packaging says the product is made from phthalate-free latex. It is true that the nicer products that are made from silicone are more expensive, so hard plastic, stainless steel, and glass, are good alternatives. If you don't have much selection for inexpensive toys and wind up getting a jelly toy anyway, you can always use a condom with it to prevent any chance of infections.
