Unless breast-feeding your newborn is completely out of the question for you, a quality breast pump should be one of the first products you list on your baby shower gift registry. For some, a breast pump is simply a tool of convenience to prepare feedings when you're away from baby. For others who struggle with milk over- or underproduction, it can be a life saver.
Pumps are available in single or double models and in a range of power sources: electric, manual, and/or battery powered. Look for a brand whose replacement parts are readily available. Major brands include Philips Avent and Medela.

This pump is awesome!! It is small and powerful!!
It is lightweight and has the option to be plugged in or use with batteries which is nice for Moms on the go.
I actually bought 2 of these because it was cheaper then buying a double pump and just cut slits in a tight sports bra...

I find this pump works well most of the time. I do find sometimes the suction isn't great and the tube falls off the pump while using it but it's easy to fix. I do like that it's so easy to take apart and wash all the parts.

Bought this pump that was recommended by a friend. Worth every penny! I love how small and compact it is. It is t very noisy and it does the job that it is meant to do!

Recieved this pump from a friend. Find it complicated to use. Hard to use when cluster feeding. Not a bad unit if you are using in the morning before feed but not the greatest during day.

Initially, I was a little bit choked to spend this much money on a breast pump (at the time, not knowing anything about breastfeeding and pumping), but quickly grew to appreciate it. I tried a single electric as well as a manual pump and they did nothing compared to the Medela...

We love our medela pump! It works great, and we are now using for our third child. When you are an exclusive pumper, the quality of the pump really matters to make sure your supply doesn’t dwindle. Never had an issue with our pump and gives us the comfort of still providing...

I bought two of these and I liked the fact that it was hands free. I struggled however with milk supply but Im not sure if the pump contributed. Wasn't the greatest to dismantle and clean but I guess it wasn't the worst either lol.

This pump worked well for me for maybe a couple weeks. Then it kept dying or randomly throughout pumping it would stop working for maybe 30 secs then start back up again. It was a great price and I liked that it came with a carrying bag but I wished it was more reliable. I would...

I had one of these donated to me brand new from someone at the hospital after I had my son and I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I was for this. At the time I couldnt use it well but after a while it became a regular thing that I depended on and I sure didnt have the money...

It's worth it! When my son was fighting for his life, he couldn't take a bottle or breastfeed. This device helped me to feel like I was contributing something towards my son. It was the best breast pump I have tried. The other didn't work as well. But with Medela I could get...

This pump is extremely effective. It is pretty much hospital grade. I was pumping almost 30oz each time with both breast combined. It worked amazing for me especially when I was hurting when I son stopped latching on as often.

This pump caused me a lot of pain and grief. I thought I was going a step up from my manual pump when purchasing this kit. Unfortunately this pump did NOT work at all and was flimsy- very very poor quality. PLease save your money.

I really enjoyed my pump in style breast pump by Medela! I used it for about 10 months (not every day) but it did the trick. I liked the bottles and cooler bag that came with this pump. The suction power behind this machine was good and adjustable for individuals needs.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!! Save yourself the hassle and buy a Medela!!
This pump is GARBAGE! It is loud, slow and it didn't even get any milk out unlike my Medela that I purchased afterwards. I even got the motor replaced to see if it was defective, sure enough they are all...

Works fine as far as manual pumps go. Don't love it, don't hate it. I would recommend this one to new moms who just need to pump occassionally, if you plan on exclusive pumping definitely go for an electric pump. Manual pumping is too much work.

I love this breast pump! After my baby was in the NICU for 4 days, and I was using the hospital's Medela to pump, I decided I needed to get one for myself at home. With the option of using batteries or plugging in to an outlet, it is very versatile. I even brought it with me to...

It worked ok, until the third time I used it. The seals went on both sides by the third use. So instead of getting replacement parts I just sent it back. Was purchased off of Amazon.... No problems returning it for a full refund, but had to pay over thirty bucks for shipping...
