Bare Escentuals I.D. Bare Minerals Foundation

I have oily sensitive skin and my skin really did not react well to this product at all. I completely broke out and, sadly, it took me several weeks to confirm 100% that it was because of the bare escentuals line. Thankfully, I can still go and return some of the products at Sephora but the first kit I bought was from the Shopping Channel - and this stuff is not cheap...

The first problem I had was that I could not find a color match for my skin tone - I am biracial and so I am lightskinned (medium tan). The tan color was a little ashy on my forehead and it washed me out. Medium Tan was too dark - so I was really stuck with the tan color. The concealer loose powder really wasn't effective - it was either too chalky on my skin or it didnt provide enough coverage and ended up melting off anyway. That's another issue I had with this makeup - BARE ESCENTUALS IS NOT FOR OILY SKIN!!! Five minutes after the foundation sets I already start to look oily - I only tolerated it because with the help of a little talc powder it would look "dewy", which was good.

I really thought this was going to be my new makeup - but it made me break out and my skin was never oilier than when I used this. Thank God for Sephora and their return policy.

On the upper hand - Dr. Hauschka's makeup line is great and surprisingly there are dark foundation colors available. I had a free facial and makeover on Saturday at Market Organics and the makeup was great and it made my skin feel great and it looked so natural. I am going to guy buy it and will rate it after a few trial weeks of use!

I have tried several mineral makeups, and this is the best by far. It stays on longer, the coverage is more complete, and it feels lighter! I did get another-smaller-brush however. I found that the smaller brush makes less of a mess, and is easier to control.

I have been color matched for Bare Escentuals foundation at least four separate times. And every time, it looked either way too yellow, or like I was wearing a horrible ashy zombie mask. So gross. Aside from my own personal experience, I've used this product many times on other people and the coverage is fair at best. The loose powder gets all over the place, the brushes fall apart and the complexion enhancers are full of these sparkley bits that, seriously, make you look absolutely ridiculous. There are so many better, cheaper, more effective products on the market. Shame, Bare Escentuals, shame!

I first came across mineral makeup after starting to see a dermatologist for acne issues. Considering my very sensitive skin they recommended I try mineral makeup (they started me out on a different brand than BE). I fell in love with the concept and effects of mineral makeup. My skin is not irritated by the makeup at all. PLUS, I have a very pale complexion and always had a hard time finding the right color but was never successful - even the liquid Ivory's were too dark. I hated the goopy, greasy, streaky mess of liquid foundations and am glad that for me they have gone by the wayside. Bare Escentuals, a San Francisco based company, provides the most widely accessible, well-known, broad line of mineral makeup. It is a bit pricey but the makeup lasts and lasts and is so much more convenient than anything else I have ever come across!

my face is red around the apples of my cheeks and this covered it up so well. Normally, i have to reapply a bit more by mid-day, but i haven't had to yet with this and i've been using it for a few months now.

Love, love, LOVE this makeup! I've been using it for 2 years after my boss recommended it, and I'm totally satisfied. Every time I wear it I get compliments on my skin (which isn't the clearest, glowing skin out there) and I love the fact that it looks like I'm not wearing any at all. The trick with this makeup is to buff, buff, buff into the skin, or you will get a cakey look. I LOVE the brushes as well, they are so soft and I love applying makeup with a brush. I definitely recommend this to all my friends, and anyone else who asks me about it.

This kit has everything you need to get started using mineral makeup. Well worth the price you pay for this kit because you actually get $174 worth of products. The brushes alone are worth the $60 in my opinion. I highly recommend this brand and this kit. It even comes with a DVD to help you learn how to use everything included in your kit. You will be hooked the first time you try this stuff. The foundation and mineral veil gives you a smooth, flawless finish that is perfect for day and night.

My sister and I bought Bare Minerals on the same day during a shopping trip. While she loves this make-up I can't say that I agree! I was happy with it for about a week and then my face started to break out. If I stopped wearing it then I could get myself cleared-up. It claims that it is gentle enough to sleep in (although I wouldn't do this with anything) but I find it is not good at any time for sensitive skin. It also wears off. And it will come off on your clothes too. You simply cannot touch your face once you put it on.
The worst part for me was that the last few times I tried to wear this (I guess I was determined!) it turned into an orange color on my face as I tried to apply more for extra coverage. Not only does it not cover blemishes or even discoloration- it caused an orangey jaw line shadow. Simply terrible. I would be careful with this product if you have sensitive skin or any skin issues!

I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed in this product. It worked okay for coverage, but it made my face look dry and powdery. The biggest disappointment of all was that my face broke out so bad that I looked like I had an acne problem. Turns out the ingredient bismuth does not work for me. I will never, ever buy their foundation again, though I love the primer.

I have been using this foundation for almost three years now. At first it was hard to find a colour that matched my skin tone, as I have gold undertones and find that the shades for darker skins can look wither too red, or ashy or chalky. However Bare Minerals recently added some new shades and I have found the Golden Deep works well.
If you have blemishes or hyperpigmentation, you have to layer on the bare minerals in order to get good coverage, although it looks awesome in photos, my skin looks "made up". I find that people compliment me on my skin when I wear this foundation, but my only gripe is that it makes my face itch, especially on a hot or humid day. It's very uncomfortable when this happens. I have read that this happens to a lot of women with sensitive skin types as there is an ingredient in Bare Minerals (bismuth oxychloride) that causes the skin itch.
Overall, I like the product but I am still searching for a mineral make up that doesn't make my skin itch -- and once I find it, I will switch from BE i.d. Bare Minerals.
