After receiving Clarins eyeshadow in my super duper Ali's Top Ten gift basket, I thought I would check out what else Clarins had to offer. I stopped in at the counter (more like an alcove) at the Bay on Queen. The woman offered to try some of their products on me, and who am I to say no to that! I tried the foundation and instantly loved it. I have fair skin and am colour 00. I thought it was a perfect match. I love how it smoothed out any imperfection. The woman said it was a primer and foundation in one. You can buy their primer separate I did find out. I have fairly oily skin and the foundation didn't seem to do anything to mattify me, but I wasn't an oil slick either. The one thing I did notice was how it had quite a strong flowery smell. I am sure that someone with sensitive skin would find it a bit irritating. You don't really need to use a lot at once, because it spreads quite easily and offers medium coverage.
Just a note to Miss Chickie's review, mine came with a little spatula thingy to use to scoop out the foundation.

This foundation is a wow. I got it from the lovely peeps at Clarins after attending one of their events. They had a group of us sitting in a room trying a bunch of their new products by dabbing swabs on our hands. I had lipstick, eyeshadow, foundation and eyeliner all over my hands. Obviously nothing compares to trying these products on your face, but the Instant Smooth foundation stuck out to me because it filled in the lines on the palms of my "hobbit hands". A palm reader would have a field day with my hands because there is so much going on there. The instant smooth made them look smooth. It made me wonder what it could do for my face!

For the last two weeks I've had a chance to find out and am really impressed. The 00 Ivory Beige colour is just a touch pale for my skin in the summer, but that makes it perfect for use under the eyes. One thing I hate about most foundation or concealer is how it can emphasize under eye wrinkles by making everything dry. This does the opposite and fills in all of the lines so I actually look younger.

The container is open like a pot (rather than a tube) so you stick your fingers in it. There is a lot of product in there, which I suspect will last for years. I use a q-tip to avoid getting bacteria in it. I suspect due to the thick lotion-like consistency putting it in a tube would not have worked.

The foundation is intended for all over the face to give it an airbrushed look. I can confirm that it does this, while making the skin silky soft and evening out the skin tone. In the fall and winter when my skin is paler I will definitely use this foundation all over. For now, I'm masking any evidence of fine lines and wrinkles!
