With patience and due diligence while going out in the daytime (sun protection!), this gel will work to exfoliate and remove hyperpigmentation in the skin. It does not give immediate results - it will take weeks to slowly fade that away. I found that it was able to fade my tan from the sun (the dreaded reverse raccoon look) within a few days, but for old acne scars, it would take months. There were dark non acne spots that remained the same. No improvement for the under eye darkness. (In addition, I have been using retinol and AHA to exfoliate as well, which would have affected the results.)
The consistency is slippery, which allows it to glide easily across the skin. It dries clear. Because of its watery nature though, the small opening was just not enough to keep the liquid from dispensing at a faster rate than it should. Best to keep it upside down and then lightly apply pressure to the tube to get a small amount of liquid. There was no scent detected. I did not have an issue applying makeup over it.
The price is okay for the type of hydroquinone offered. Though it had been halved by the company while being offered at the same price sometime two years ago, I still had plenty of liquid left after 7 months and will still have plenty at the 1 year mark. (used mainly for spot treating.)
Hopefully I will see enough improvement to warrant purchasing it again, but for now? I am still waiting for a miracle.
