If you're looking to get in shape but want to have fun in the process, I highly recommend Jazzercise! I've been doing it since Jan. '06 and I am totally addicted. It's not trendy or too hip or pretentious. Every age group is represented, from 20 to 70 and you don't have to worry about wearing that cute little workout outfit or worry that you have no makeup on, etc. Basically it is aerobics with jazz dance elements. Less monotonous than regular aerobics, moves change often, and you work out to good music, from current hits to classics (rock, pop...). Routines/songs change every 2 weeks, so you won't get bored. We do about 40 minutes of aerobics, a weight routine, then abs and glutes. Some Pilates in there too.

There are classes all over the country. I checked and I did see classes in Toronto (and elsewhere) for you Canadian chicks. I signed up through our city's recreational program and the class is at a local rec. center. Some classes are in private studios, so prices will vary based on where you are. $36 is our charge for 6 weeks (twice a week). $5 to try a class. Oh, and if you find there is more than one instructor near you, definitely shop around and try out the different classes since each instructor has her own personality and style, though the moves are the same.

Jazzercise has been around for almost 40 years. It is also listed as one of the best overall workouts out there. For real results I recommend at least 3 times a week. I've seen results; more definition in my arms, and my rear/thighs are much toner than they were a year ago. Hallelujah!
