Good - If it's what you're looking for
I received this product free in exchange for a product review from Chick Advisor.
I had heard about this product on TV and online and was excited to try something that would compare to some of the "healthier" ice creams out there such as Halo Top or even those sold at supplement stores with protein added. Overall, I liked it, but I would probably stick with regular ice cream based on taste, price, and nutrition.
Taste - I was selected to try the cookies and cream flavour. Overall, I liked the taste, it was mild and not overly sugary-sweet. The cookies were plentiful and had a soft texture similar to that of the regular variety of bryer's cookies and cream. I found that it was obviously more of an ice-milk rather than an ice-cream based on how the texture melted in your mouth faster and felt more like a sorbet than a cream, but that did not bother me too much. I did think it melted faster in general than a typical ice cream.
Nutrition - the product is kind of advertised as a "lighter" ice cream with protein. Yes, half a cup is probably 30 calories less than a regular ice cream, but to me that is negligible when it is clearly an ice milk rather than an ice cream. However, if you were going to be extremely conscious of your overall diet, this would be pretty decent. The container advertises ten grams of protein per pint, which roughly makes four grams per serving, which again, isn't as much as some of the protein ice creams around, but still good for a mainstream product. I would note though, that the original cookies and cream by Bryers only has two grams of protein per serving and 140 calories. So, this is better than the original and is great for the health conscious, especially since it uses skim milk as the base.
Price - I had the coupon for a couple of days before redeeming and thus had a chance to "shop around" for it - even though it was free. The first time, I was at Loblaw and had to go elsewhere after - not wishing to have it melt, I skipped redeeming it there. I went to a wal-mart with full grocery section the next day and was surprised that it was not stocked there at all. I cannot say this is a fact for other Wal-Mart locations. I ended up going back to Loblaw, where I knew I could get it. They had it on regular price for 6.99, which I thought was very expensive for the amount of ice cream - compared to regular size packs. I understand this is more for the supposed "health" benefits, but considering it is actually not even using cream, it uses skim milk or skim milk powder, I would not want to pay that price for this ice cream when I could purchase a regular Bryers or other brand for 3-5 dollars for a litre. Personally, I would not pay any more than 3.99 for this product, regular price. I would be interested to see what other grocers sell it for, but I think it is overpriced for the overall taste and nutrition. Since it does not have a specific "diet" element such as dairy free/vegan/etc, I do not think it can demand such a high price for the quantity.
In summary, i would purchase this product on sale, since it is "healthier" than other ice creams and easily satisfies the craving for something sweet when on a diet, but for the price and the fact that it is only somewhat better for you than regular ice cream, I would skip it in most situations.
Delicious
I got to try the Breyers delights cookies and cream and its quite good. Almost tastes exactly like the orginal cookies and cream ice cream. I would recommend it to my friends sinply for taste or if I know they are fitness buffs as it has a lot of protein. i wouldnt recommend it because of price $7-$8 is a lot for an ice cream tub of this size in my opinion.
Wow!!!
This is seriously delicious! I have a major sweet tooth, but I'm currently trying to tone it down in preparation for my summer wedding. It is not a winning combination, lol.
When I saw the Breyer's Delights line I was intrigued. When I saw the cookies and cream variety (my fav ice cream flavour) at 360 calories per pack, it was a definite must-try! I was not at all disappointed! It wasn't as creamy as regular ice cream, but it was equally satisfying and tasted amazing! You won't regret giving it a try! 😋😋😋
Skinny icecream
Unfortunately I did not receive my package for free from chickadvisor for BREYERS DELIGHTS COOKIES & CREAM but I went ahead and bought it anyway because it was on sale and I figured that I might as well try it since it seemed like something I would actually buy and eat. So the ice cream was nice treat. I liked that it was low in calories and the tub was a good size. The fact that its a protein snack was exciting for me. I ate 4 times from it. The cookies and cream was Rich and the ice cream was nice and creamy. It was easy to find. I got mine at shoppers drug mart. I would buy it again when on sale otherwise it's rather pricy
Creamy & delish will purchase weekly
I received breyers delight cookies & cream free via free coupon from ChickAdvisor.
I tried it with my husband & my 2 kids.
My husband said he could eat the 500 ml container by himself because he loved it.
My kids & I found it creamy, tasty and delicious. I will definitely purchase Breyers delights for my family and we can each have our own pack. What a wonderful treat filled with protein, fibre and only 280 calories. Thanks Breyers!
I LOVE IT!
I am a person who over indugles, if theres more food in front of me I can't stop. So the very ideal of eating a whole tub of ice cream and still staying under 400 calories is A-MAZING!
Yes it's not exactly the same taste as regular cookies and cream ice cream but it's good enough to fill those cravings. It still has great taste, flavor and texture. I highly recommend for those nights where you can't stick to your diet. It's like cheating but not!
Tasty but not worth the price
So grateful to ChickAdvisor as always for letting me try this ice cream as part of the Product Review Club! Really is the best way to say I #gotitfree :)
I will come out and say that this ice cream was not my favourite, nor my least favourite.
Pros: The vanilla ice cream part is really really nice. Lots of vanilla flecks and tastes real, not like it was just vanilla flavoured with some syrup. There's also a good amount of cookie to call itself "Cookies and Cream" ice cream. And of course there's the bonus of this ice cream being only 360 calories FOR THE WHOLE CONTAINER. That's less than a baked good at Starbucks, folks. So if you're watching your calories, this option doesn't compromise taste for that too much.
Cons: The lack of calories comes from the fact that I think this ice "cream" is more water than cream, because when you try to scoop, you have to leave it out for a few minutes first because it's rock solid. So that was a big con for me because I don't like the effort that goes into scooping in the first place. Second big con is the price. Obviously like I said, glad that I #gotitfree with ChickAdvisor but if I saw it on the shelf, I don't think the promise of less calories would sway me over the $7 price tag for 4 servings (and let's be real, nobody serious about weight loss is eating ice cream at all).
Definitely tasty, glad I got to try it and I think they're doing a good thing here. Remember to always read the labels closely!
Surprisingly yummy!
I got this for free with chickadvisor, and if I didn’t I wasn’t sure if I would have tried it. But am I sure happy I did! It was delicious! Especially being low calorie, I didn’t expect much, didn’t think it would be as creamy and have real cookie chunks. I was delighted to eat it, however I’m not sure about the price tag. It runs on the expensive side, either than that con, it’s great.
Tastes just like cookies and cream
I was delighted when I tried it. It tastes just like cookies and cream, and I like the specks and chunks of "cookie" inside the mixture. The only thing that throws me off from buying this is that it was $7 for essentially 1 serving of ice cream - for me, that's too expensive to be buying on a normal basis.
Delicious and satisfying ice cream! I will purchase again!
This ice cream was delicious (not to mention the whole pint is 360 calories)! I have previously purchased the Halo Cookies & Cream and was disappointed, so when the opportunity to try the Breyers Delights Cookies & Cream came up, I was very interested. The Breyers Delights is so much better! It actually has chucks of cookies in i (that actually taste like cookie chucks, not chocolate dust!). It is very creamy and the taste is really good. Minus the couple of spoonfuls my husband stole, I ate the whole pint and did not feel bad after. I will purchase again and I would recommend to a friend. Finally a Cookies & Cream dessert that I can eat the entire pint of and not feel bad!
