Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Frozen Dessert Reviews

Description

Breyers Smooth & Dreamy delivers all the decadence we crave from regular ice cream, but with half the fat and calories. The secret lies in its Cream Press SystemTM - a process that breaks apart the cream into smaller droplets and distributes them more evenly throughout the ice cream to deliver a decadent taste and texture. Whether your tastes are simple or you like something more indulgent, Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream comes in five yummy flavours that’ll suit everyone’s preference: Natural Vanilla Bean, Creamy Chocolate, Mocha Fudge Brownie, Strawberries & Cream, and Dulce de Leche.

Apologies for the late review - I received my coupon and cute scoop in the mail, but was out of town before I could purchase the ice cream.

I chose the Strawberries and Cream flavour, and have to say I enjoyed it. Like others have mentioned, I usually don't purchase low/no-fat products because I find that the flavour is lacking. I found the texture to be very smooth, and it was very easy to scoop out, unlike other rock-hard ice creams I'e bought. Overall, the flavour was good, but I did feel that it was missing a certain "something"...I still can't put my finger on it, but if/when I do, I'll post an update! It may just be the particular flavour, which brings e to my next point - the price.

Honestly speaking, unless I get another free coupon, I probably won't purchase this again unless it's on sale. I'd much rather purchase the regular Breyers (Mint Choco Chip is my ultimate fave).

Overall, a decent ice cream, and I may venture into other flavours if on sale. Otherwise, Breyers still gets my $$$ for their regular line.

I went to Loblaws yesterday and using my Breyers coupon (thanks to Chickadvisor) picked up 1/2 the fat Strawberries and Cream. I have to say I wasn't really impressed with the product. The taste was OK it left a funny after taste in my mouth which I wasn't fond of and immediately had to brush! Maybe I should have gone for the Mocha Fudge! The retail price at this store was $6.99 it was on sale for $4.99. I wouldn't pick this up if it was or wasn't on sale. I think I'd stick to the regular Breyers product. I pulled out a tube of Breyers Vanilla (regular) that I had in my freezer and it actually had LESS sugar than the 1/2 fat product. And it was 140 calories (Strawberries and Cream is 130 for 1/2 a cup)! So I'll stick with the 'full fat' and pass on the 1/2....I can do without the after taste!

I was happy to finally receive my coupon form the product review club! This was one product I was really looking forward to reviewing! I chose the Mocha Fudge Brownie because I am chocoholic.

As a Weigh Watchers member, with a really big sweet tooth, I find it hard to find good quality, low fat products (especially ice cream) that don't taste like low-fat products. I was very pleasanty surprised about this product!

This ice cream was very creamy. And there were brownie pieces in it which rocked. At 140 calories and 4 g of fat per 1/2 cup serving, it made for a really delicious treat. And the best part? The fact that it doesn't taste like a low-fat roduct. I could serve this to my husband, friends, etc and they wouldn't know it was a low-fat ice cream.

Now, the cost is very prohibitive, especially when I would only have it as a one in a while treat. at over $8/tub, I would much prefer walking to Baskin and Robbins for ice cream when the feeling strikes. In the end this will cost me a lot more, but the longer a tub of ice cream sits in the freezer, the worse it tastes because of freezer burn.

If I was having a party and wanted to serve Ice Cream, I would definitely buy this one. I would also recommend it because the taste is so good...but with the caveat that it costs a lot.

I got the Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Creamy Vanilla since my usual favorite is the Breyers All Natural natural Vanilla. The texture is so smooth and creamy just as the name implies that it is had to believe that it is made with half the fat. The only thing I wowed about is the price, it does cost more than other brands but I would buy again if it went on sale. I am looking forward to trying the Strawberry Cheesecake.

I tried the mocha fudge brownie ice-cream. I usually love brownie ice-cream, but I felt that this particular product wasn't as good as others on the market. The brownie chunks were very very small, and if it was a blind taste test I wouldn't have even known it was brownie. The other part that I didn't like was that the ice-cream had a soft texture despite being in the freezer over night. I usually prefer a more dense ice-cream. It is possible that I have different preferences for ice-cream overall, and the one positive I can say is that it didn't taste like a diet product, I just wasn't a fan of the overall flavour or texture.

Thanks to Chickadvisor, I recieved a free trial for this product. The flavour I tried was 'Creamy Chocolate'. It was extremely creamy and smooth in texture. I like it because it is also not too sweet, but still very chocolate in taste. My friend thinks it taste like melted chocolate ice cream. I got this product from Metro supermarket. The price was $7.99. The ice cream is very good but the price is too expensive, I will likely not buy it in the future at this kind of price.

For my review I tried Mocha Fudge Brownie, and it was AMAZING. On it's own, so delicious, but even up against its full-fat competition! I'm blown away by how smooth it is! I have already told several friends about it.

Unfortunately, its price point holds me back a bit. The local grocery store I bought it from had it on sale for $8 a tub, which is a little high for me. If I spend more than $6 on ice cream, it has to be a pretty hard-to-find flavour. But these flavours have dupes in the $5 price point (full-fat or not).

Overall, this is definitely something I'll watch for and buy when it's on sale. Otherwise, I'll stick to a smaller portion of a full-fat but less expensive ice cream.

I tasted mocha fudge brownie and overall, it was a fair icecream. i did enjoy eating it somewhat but it was not outstanding compared to full calorie icecream. Although there is a difference in calorie content between full and this icecream, I would rather eat a smaller quantity of full fat icecream than this one, because the flavour is much better in full fat. If i had to compare this icecream to low fat icecreams, I would say it is not superior in flavour. For example, if I was really counting calories, I would choose an icecream like Chapmans frozen yogurt and only get like 90 calories per125ml....and Chapman's flavours are very good like cappuchino or thier newer flavours recently introduced. Sadly, a week after finishing this icecream, I cannot remember anything special about it....like... exceptional brownie pieces or big pieces of dark chocolate or anything like that. This means that the icecream was not memorable...did not stand out above other icecream brands. It did not compare to President's Choice Icecreams which make an impression on you with their taste, body and chunks of chocolate, brownies, and other things. In conclusion, I would not buy this icecream unless it was on sale and I would not recommend it to friends.

I was very excited to be chosen to review Breyers' new Smooth & Dreamy ice cream, as I will fully admit that the members of my household are addicted to ice cream. I chose the Dulce de Leche flavor and everyone in my house was pleased. This ice cream is as creamy as any other full-fat brand I have tried before. I like that they included thick ribbons of caramel into the ice cream as well. I, however, like a previous reviewer felt that something was a bit off in the flavor. To me the ice cream tasted a bit like butter, and that wasn't what I was going for in my ice cream. The other members of my house didn't seem to notice this, and were content to go in for seconds. The price of the ice cream is a major contention point for me. I would not pay almost $9 for ice cream, I don't care how good it is. I would definitely be willing to try another flavor of this brand should they go on sale (their website shows a much larger variety than appeared in my local grocery store).
