Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Frozen Dessert Reviews

Description

Breyers Smooth & Dreamy delivers all the decadence we crave from regular ice cream, but with half the fat and calories. The secret lies in its Cream Press SystemTM - a process that breaks apart the cream into smaller droplets and distributes them more evenly throughout the ice cream to deliver a decadent taste and texture. Whether your tastes are simple or you like something more indulgent, Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream comes in five yummy flavours that’ll suit everyone’s preference: Natural Vanilla Bean, Creamy Chocolate, Mocha Fudge Brownie, Strawberries & Cream, and Dulce de Leche.

I recently tried the Dulce de Leche Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream after receiving a coupon as a ChickAdvisor Product Reviwer. If I had done a blind taste test, I would not have suspected this to have half the fat and calories of a regular ice cream. This tasted awesome! I loved the rich taste and texture of this ice cream, and would certainly recommend it to others. The caramel was just sweet enough without being too sweet.

Breyers makes great tasting ice cream. Like other reviewers, I would probably not purchase this item unless it was on sale as the regular price ($8.49 at Loblaws) is just too pricey for my meagre grocery budget. This makes for a great indulgent dessert. Yummy!

Apologies for the late review - I received my coupon and cute scoop in the mail, but was out of town before I could purchase the ice cream.

I chose the Strawberries and Cream flavour, and have to say I enjoyed it. Like others have mentioned, I usually don't purchase low/no-fat products because I find that the flavour is lacking. I found the texture to be very smooth, and it was very easy to scoop out, unlike other rock-hard ice creams I'e bought. Overall, the flavour was good, but I did feel that it was missing a certain "something"...I still can't put my finger on it, but if/when I do, I'll post an update! It may just be the particular flavour, which brings e to my next point - the price.

Honestly speaking, unless I get another free coupon, I probably won't purchase this again unless it's on sale. I'd much rather purchase the regular Breyers (Mint Choco Chip is my ultimate fave).

Overall, a decent ice cream, and I may venture into other flavours if on sale. Otherwise, Breyers still gets my $$$ for their regular line.

This ice cream is worth every penny. I love this creaminess of it. There was a lot of varieties to choose from , which kind of made it hard for me to choose. Well the story was , when my package came in the mail, the other end was ripped off, and there was basically nothing inside except for this piece of paper about Breyers ice cream. And I was like, "Well where is the stuff inside??!" I figured someone stole it from me. But still, I decided to go get myself a big tub of the new breyers ice cream like watdaheck I still wanted to try it! So here I am giving a review. 3 thumbs up for Breyers! =) Would definitely get another one!

I just received my Breyers coupon and decided to buy the Mocha Fudge Brownie. It is sooo good! This ice cream has chocolate, brownie bits and fudge. It has a more chocolate-caramel taste than chocolate overkill. I would definitely get this or any other Breyers ice cream again! Plus, it's half the fat!

I went to Loblaws yesterday and using my Breyers coupon (thanks to Chickadvisor) picked up 1/2 the fat Strawberries and Cream. I have to say I wasn't really impressed with the product. The taste was OK it left a funny after taste in my mouth which I wasn't fond of and immediately had to brush! Maybe I should have gone for the Mocha Fudge! The retail price at this store was $6.99 it was on sale for $4.99. I wouldn't pick this up if it was or wasn't on sale. I think I'd stick to the regular Breyers product. I pulled out a tube of Breyers Vanilla (regular) that I had in my freezer and it actually had LESS sugar than the 1/2 fat product. And it was 140 calories (Strawberries and Cream is 130 for 1/2 a cup)! So I'll stick with the 'full fat' and pass on the 1/2....I can do without the after taste!

I was happy to finally receive my coupon form the product review club! This was one product I was really looking forward to reviewing! I chose the Mocha Fudge Brownie because I am chocoholic.

As a Weigh Watchers member, with a really big sweet tooth, I find it hard to find good quality, low fat products (especially ice cream) that don't taste like low-fat products. I was very pleasanty surprised about this product!

This ice cream was very creamy. And there were brownie pieces in it which rocked. At 140 calories and 4 g of fat per 1/2 cup serving, it made for a really delicious treat. And the best part? The fact that it doesn't taste like a low-fat roduct. I could serve this to my husband, friends, etc and they wouldn't know it was a low-fat ice cream.

Now, the cost is very prohibitive, especially when I would only have it as a one in a while treat. at over $8/tub, I would much prefer walking to Baskin and Robbins for ice cream when the feeling strikes. In the end this will cost me a lot more, but the longer a tub of ice cream sits in the freezer, the worse it tastes because of freezer burn.

If I was having a party and wanted to serve Ice Cream, I would definitely buy this one. I would also recommend it because the taste is so good...but with the caveat that it costs a lot.

I just recently received my produc coupon (a few days ago) and scoop - that was a nice surprise - for this Breyer's ice cream, so I've only had the opportunity to actually eat it once before reviewing it.

Firstly, I must say that I NEVER buy low fat products. The flavor is always lacking, anything with dairy in it tastes watery and these products are just, overall, yucky! I'm also a very strict believer that our bodies need fat to live. You'd die without it, quite literally.

When I realized that this was low fat ice cream, I wasn't exactly chomping at the bit to sit down to a bowl of it. I really had to push myself. In addition, my local store (Walmart) had very few flavors. I believe they carried chocolate and vanilla. Which was disappointing. So I dutifully picked out my carton of chocolate and trudged home with it and stuck it in the freezer. REALLY was NOT looking forward to having to eat this!

As far as packaging goes, it's a good thing that '1/2 the fat' isn't prominently displayed. For me, anyways. If I wasn't picking this up for a product review, there's no way I would buy one that screams 'I'm low fat'. Ever. The colors of the packaging are really nice, and the graphics are pleasant. Sitting amongst all the ice cream choices in the supermarket freezer, it looks pretty good. The price? A tad steep, a couple of dollars more expensive than other brands (at least), I have to say. I mean, it IS ice cream. Not a staple in anybody's diet, really. The carton itself opened very easily and the lid popped back on securely with no problems. I also liked that the tub wasn't plastic, but made out of paper products. In addition, because of the shape of the tub, it easily fit into my freezer, which is one of those lower drawer freezers in a new stainless steel fridge. I was worried about having to squish it in to my already overcrowded bin. It ended up not being a problem because of the shape, thankfully.

Surprisingly, when I actually talked myself into scarfing some of it back, I found this ice cream to be very smooth and not a typically low fat tasting product. It actually IS creamy. And it actually DOES taste like it's got some fat in it. The chocolate flavor is also very pronounced and tastes like true chocolate. Which was another surprise.

The product scooped very easily and the carton was FULL to the top, but I noticed right away that it began to melt on contact with the bowl. Like immediately. That I didn't like. I prefer a harder ice cream. but with a smooth, creamy taste. And I like eating it, as opposed to drinking it. With the first mouthful, it seemed quite a bit too sweet for me. Maybe that's the company's way of making up for the low fat flavor? I don't know. Nonetheless, too sweet. I wasn't able to finish my 2 scoops. I do make my own ice cream at home, and prefer the way I make it, with far less sugar. It also seemed to have the tiniest bit of a sandy or gritty texture. It's just barely there, but it's there. Anybody else notice this?

Would I but this again? I don't think so. Between the price and the fact that it's extremely sweet, I can't say I'd find eating this product very enjoyable. Other brands are far cheaper and my home made just tastes better. But, again, for a low fat ice cream, it's pretty impressive. Especially since the list of ingredients doesn't seem to include any extra chemicals to make it taste good.

I forgot to say, I was sent a coupon for a Breyer's product, but NOT this one. Regardless, I chose the one I was supposed to review and hoped the cashier wouldn't notice that the coupon and the product I chose didn't match. She didn't, as she was too busy marveling at HOW I got a coupon for entire FREE tub of Breyer's LOL

The first thing that came to my mind when I tried this ice cream was that I could not believe that it's half the fat! It has brownie chunks! How is that possible?!

Although its price tag makes it a bit of a splurge, I thought it was definitely worth it. I figure, if you're going to cheap out on anything, it shouldn't be the things you put into your body. I would totally buy it again. Really great treat.

I chose the Strawberries and Cream flavor. It is a huge tub of ice cream, so you get a lot of it! I really loved that this was low-fat especially when it tasted delicious! I don't usually like the taste of low-fat ice creams. I've tried a few of them in the past and I don't don't tend to like the taste, but this one was so delicious! It tasted like real, authentic strawberries. I loved that it had that taste of real fruit. I definitely recommend this!

I was chosen to review Breyers Smooth and Dreamy Ice cream as a part of the Product Review Club.

I chose to try the Strawberries and Cream flavour. The ice cream is a bit on the pricy side at the grocery store but after trying it I didn't care how much it would cost to actually buy it! It's DELICIOUS!!!
It reminds me of going out for ice cream as a little girl in the summer time. It was full of flavour, so smooth and even though it is low in fat, it tasted rich like a regular ice cream.

I would definitely try this product again, and can't wait to have my friends over to help me finish the carton :)

    YUMMY!!!
