    My review >>

    Packaging:
Catelli® Ancient Grains Rotini comes in an attractively designed 340g box with an opening covered by clear plastic so you can see the appearance of the pasta inside...very nice. There's a lot of useful information on the box, especially the clear cooking instructions.

    Appearance:
Catelli® Ancient Grains Rotini has a wonderful golden brown colour and it's been cut to the perfect length. I like the visibility of the 5 ancient grains in the pasta.

    Claims/Benefits:
Catelli® Ancient Grains Rotini delivers on all of its claims. It's certainly a very high source of fibre. I like the fact that it's made with Canadian wheat and all-natural wholesome ingredients. The pasta's cooking time is very short. Perfect al dente pasta can be achieved in 6 minutes. Catelli® Ancient Grains Rotini contains less fat, preservatives, and sodium than other pastas I've tried in the past. It's the first rotini pasta I've tried that is Non GMO Verified.

    Taste/Texture:
I prepared the Catelli® Ancient Grains Rotini pasta by following the instructions on the package and the Rotini With 3-Peas And Pesto recipe card. I was very pleased with the ease of the cooking process and the end results. I was able to quickly prepare a tasty wholesome pasta dish that had a delightful appearance and appetizing smell. The pasta had a more nutty/grainy texture than many other pastas I've tried in the past, however, the pasta was very enjoyable to chew and swallow. As a side note, I would lighten up on the amount of extra virgin olive oil that the recipe card calls for.

    The Verdict:
The nutritional value of Catelli® Ancient Grains Rotini is great. I felt like I was eating something that's very good for me. Catelli® Ancient Grains Rotini is a high quality, all-natural, easy-to-prepare, and reasonably priced pasta. As a result, I intend to purchase this pasta in the future and I have no hesitation recommending it to a friend.

When I received the a huge box from Chick Advisor and saw the Smart Veggie Spaghetti and the Ancient Grains Rotini I instantly knew that the spaghetti would be easy to place in front of the kid without him noticing that it was different. After all it still looked like regular white spaghetti noodles, the bonus was the added veggies and great taste. It was the Ancient Grains that I thought would be a much harder sell as he's never taken to whole wheat pastas or colored pastas and the Ancient Grain Rotini definitely looked brownish in color I was fully prepared to have them rejected. I prepared them and served them with my homemade spaghetti sauce and he gobbled them right up! I didn't pull the wool over his eyes by smothering them in sauce either, he noticed the color and even asked, "Are these whole grain or something?" I said "They're Ancient Grains" and held my breath waiting for the rejection- he took another bite "mmm, they're good" he said as he continued to shovel the noodles into his mouth. I was shocked- he liked them. He really liked them.
They were still just as good the next day when I took the leftovers for lunch.

I received a package of Catelli Ancient Grains Rotini for free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club. I was excited to try it. It has different taste and texture than white regular pasta. It was good. I can eat whole grain pasta occasionally but I wouldn't replace regular white pasta with it. I would recommend Catelli Ancient Grains Rotini as it is a healthy pasta. But not sure I will buy it again.

Thanks to Chick Advisor I got to try this pasta for free. My family and I were a bit underwhelmed by this rotini. It had quite a grainy, texture which we didn't really like. I made a tomato based pasta sauce which did pair well with the pasta though. One of my kids liked it, and the other didn't, so in my mind that is enough for me not to buy it in the future.

My kids are really picky and only eat white pasta, and I normally only buy one brand of rotini as its the only pasta shape my youngest son will eat. He wouldn't eat this rotini as it was much smaller than our regular brand, and so he refused to eat it. I was really worried about the texture of this pasta since white pasta tends to have a softer texture, so I cooked the rotini for longer than the instructions called for to make sure it was nice and soft. My kids did eat the rotini (except my youngest), however they noticed the difference. I thought I would be able to mask the colour by making a bacon cheddar cheese sauce for the pasta, but it didn't work. My son who normally has seconds of any pasta dish I make didn't quite finish the pasta on his plate, and didn't have any of the leftovers the next day. He said he noticed a difference with the texture and the taste of the pasta and that he didn't really like it. I didn't notice a huge difference but I am not as picky as he is, so I had 2 days of leftovers for lunch. I personally thought the rotini was delicious, but I won't buy it as the kids did not like it.

I received this product free of charge from the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club.

This rotini has a different taste and texture than regular pasta. It is somewhat denser with a heavier taste. My kids didn't like the differences but my husband and I really enjoyed it when the pasta was freshly made. It didn't re-heat well for leftovers so I wouldn't recommend it if you enjoy pasta leftovers. For us, the health benefits are a fair trade off for the different taste and texture and we will continue to use it occasionally but it won't fully replace our regular pasta.

Thanks to the Chick Advisor Product Club we got to try a new pasta that we wouldn't normally purchase. It was given a thumbs up by my whole family. We just mixed it together with fresh tomatoes, olive oil and peppers. Definitely will purchase for future family dinners! #gotitfree

I received this product to try as part of the Product Review Club. This pasta is really good with tomato sauce. My kids liked it and I find that I feel full longer than with regular pasta. I'm not sure how it would be with a cream sauce and likely won't bother trying it because I'm not going to mess with something that works. The texture is a bit different than regular pasta but there is much more nutritional value with the ancient grains. I will likely be buying it in the future.
