Odd smell on clothes

I was so excited to find a non-toxic fabric softener at a reasonable price. However, after using it for a couple of weeks, I started to notice an odd smell on my clothes. At first, I thought my body lotion had gone rancid, but after eliminating several products one at a time, I realized the fabric softener was the culprit. It made my clothes smell terrible, especially as they got warm from body temperature or ironing. I will never purchase this again and had to rewash all of my clothes.
