I'd classify this more as a 'lip marker'.
I've tried both 400 and 435, but don't ask me the actual names of the colours because apparently CoverGirl only prints them on the plastic seal you rip off and throw away. Arg!
The felt tip makes the product easy to apply, and initially the colour is beautiful...but that's before you blot to get the excess off because if you don't, it won't dry and therefore stain your lips. Problem is, this stuff doesn't actually stain anything. After only a couple of hours, you're left with that weird ring around the edge of your mouth and you have to reapply.
If you have fine lines around your mouth, I wouldn't recommend using any lip stain, let alone this one. The product would bleed like crazy!
There's got to be better stuff out there. Keep on looking.
When I first tried this product, I really really liked it. I thought it was easy to apply because of the marker-like tip, I really liked the colour, and it was long lasting. However, when I used it again about 2 weeks later, it had dried up!!! I only used it that one time and I had the cap on properly during those 2 weeks, yet somehow there was only enough product in to cover my bottom lip before it ran out! Chances are that I just got a defective product, but I was still really disappointed.
The best lip stain I've tried by far.
Beautiful color range - Lasts all day - Not too drying.
I especially love that the applicator is like a sharpie/marker tip so easy to apply.
I love marker lip stains but this one leaves a bit to be desired. The colour goes on much too dark immediately and the red I have really tastes and smells like that fake vampire blood you used when you were 12 on Halloween. I find the colour soaks into the creases on your lips and resists elsewhere. It's ok with a lip balm or gloss on top (which makes it impossible to reapply the stain), but alone it is much too sticky and drying. also with a balm or gloss on top it will come off. Not the greatest stain.
When this first came out, I was quite intrigued with the idea of a 'marker' that's a lipstain. I also hate reapplying lipsticks so lipstain sounded like a good idea. So i finally bought one to try. The precise tip makes it easy to fill my pout neatly. It didn't taste weird, lasted a long while and had great colour payoff, which is great. I think this would be perfect for summer or even layering under lipstick to make sure you always have a bit of colour. I am definitely looking forward to try more. The only downside is that i find a lot of the colours are really similar, I would appreciate some lighter colours.
I was really excited about this program, and though reviews were mixed, decided to try it. It was cheap, but so not worth it. It felt like I was applying a marker to my lips and it had a strange smell/taste. It left my lips dry and I ended up scrubbing it off.
This is one of my favourite CoverGirl products, and the best lip stain I've tried so far.
It's like a marker, which makes it easy to apply properly all over your lips. Cover it with a top coat of lip gloss or lip balm and you have perfect long lasting colour. Like any lip stain it will dry our your lips a bit so you'll definitely need that extra moisture layer. I used mine to the very end and intend to purchase this again. Great product!
Please note: Like almost everything in my makeup bag, I got this complimentary, however I am not compensated for my reviews nor obligated to add them.
I was so disappointed in this product. I feel like I paid incredibly too much for the lipstain because it works more as a $2 lip stain. It is literally a marker and I found myself having to shake it repeatedly in order for the color to come out. And when I finally got the color on, it looked as if I had just got done sucking on a popsicle. The color was a lot different than advertised. I would not ever recommend this to anyone even if you are into lip stains. It rubs off way too easly and does not last more than 20 minutes. Pick another lipstain. I wanted this product to work so bad because I needed a good lipstain but CoverGirl just did not deliver this time.
