Tossed up on this one. I like the easy-to-apply pen. I liked that it felt very natural on my lips. I loved the coral colour I bought last year. This year, the one I got dried out faster, and didn't impress me as much. I use this product to layer under glosses which never seem to last on me. For that purpose its very good... to add a bit of intensity to the gloss colour, and to have some colour when the gloss is gone.
I didn't like this lipstain at all. Even the Flirty Nude was WAY too pigmented, even for a lipstain. And the Plum Pout colour was VERY red. Much too red for me. I'm not very impressed with the quality or the colour and I normally prefer lighter lip colours (peachy) so I won't buy this again. I'd buy Joe Lipstain over CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain any day!
I found the most beautiful pink colour (Shell) and it happened to be a drugstore product so I was ecstatic!
However, when I tried it at home, it felt terrible on my lips. Both the stain and gloss were smooth and had a wonderful scent, but once the stain dried, my lips felt dry and cakey like I couldn't move them. It has a good lasting power but throughout the day it will fade leaving your lips with a ridge of colour that looks like you put on lip-liner and forgot to fill it in. If you try to add more stain and gloss, it will just build up product leaving your lips with a terrible 'gunky' feeling. Don't even get me started on trying to take it off; one word: nightmare.
I'd classify this more as a 'lip marker'.
I've tried both 400 and 435, but don't ask me the actual names of the colours because apparently CoverGirl only prints them on the plastic seal you rip off and throw away. Arg!
The felt tip makes the product easy to apply, and initially the colour is beautiful...but that's before you blot to get the excess off because if you don't, it won't dry and therefore stain your lips. Problem is, this stuff doesn't actually stain anything. After only a couple of hours, you're left with that weird ring around the edge of your mouth and you have to reapply.
If you have fine lines around your mouth, I wouldn't recommend using any lip stain, let alone this one. The product would bleed like crazy!
There's got to be better stuff out there. Keep on looking.
When I first tried this product, I really really liked it. I thought it was easy to apply because of the marker-like tip, I really liked the colour, and it was long lasting. However, when I used it again about 2 weeks later, it had dried up!!! I only used it that one time and I had the cap on properly during those 2 weeks, yet somehow there was only enough product in to cover my bottom lip before it ran out! Chances are that I just got a defective product, but I was still really disappointed.
I was really excited about this program, and though reviews were mixed, decided to try it. It was cheap, but so not worth it. It felt like I was applying a marker to my lips and it had a strange smell/taste. It left my lips dry and I ended up scrubbing it off.
I bought this because I was intrigued. I had never seen such a thing before. It looks like any felt tip marker, which was entertaining. I find that it tickles putting it on, but not too badly. The colour was really bright. I chose a plum/red colour. It does wear off quickly sometimes. I suggest wearing a lipstick of a similar colour over top of it. That way, as the lip stick wears, the stain makes it less noticeable. I believe that this is the intention of the product. However, I do believe that you're better off with a long wear lip stick.
I tried this with high hopes. I thought that since it says it stays all day that I had a good chance of having it last. Well, it didn't. Apparently I'm one of those few on whom this product doesn't soak in or something. It wore off within 2 hours. There was nothing left. It transferred onto a tissue when I'd had it on for over an hour. I realise I may be in the minority, but for those who have issues with long-lasting products, be aware that this one may not be any better. I'm rather upset because I was really hoping it would work. Just once, I'd like one to work.
I would not recommend this lip wear. When I wore it, I found that I had to apply several coats for the colour to stay. The lipstain tasted sweet, but it felt sticky and sugary on my lips. After a couple hours, the lipstain would wear away around the center of my lips, leaving a ring of colour around my lips. The price isn't bad on this lip product, but I would not recommend it.
