I really love how this product makes my skin feel but, I'm a dufus because it took three tries before I realized that I wasn't doing it properly. You see, the instructions say to mix it in your wet hands and massage it on your face for one minute -- It goes one really liquidy and smooth. I massaged it as though I were cleaning my face. After what seemed like a minute, I thought "that's long enough" and I washed it off. I didn't notice any results and was really disappointed.
It wasn't until the third time that I kept it on alot longer --- and it turns into an interesting paste, and you whisk away the particles. It whisks off the dead skin and my face felt fabulous!!!! That's when I fell in love with the product!! I really wish that the instructions were more explicit, something like, "massage for one minute until it thickens to a paste. Whisk away particles". Did anyone else have this experience of not fully understanding how the product should work, or am I the only one?!
Also, as I received this in my Swag Bag at the Shopaholic event, I didn't know the retail price, so I went to the website but could not find the price. I see from other reviewers that the price is around the $75 mark. If that's indeed the price, hmmmm, that's really hefty and I don't think I'd feel good about shelling out that much. In this review, I'm going down the middle for rating the price, just because I'm not sure what it is (If it's $75, do you get a much bigger container?). As for quality and effectiveness, top marks!!
I received this product as a part of the swag from the Shopaholic movie night.
I am really impressed with this product. Other exfoliating products I have tried have either been too harsh or drying. This one was perfect!
It comes in powder form, and at first glance looks similar to talcum powder. You mix it with a little water to form a paste and then massage it into your face for one minute.
After using this for a few days, my skin feels smoother and softer, and I have a nice "glow" from all the exfoliating!
I am going to continue to keep using this product until it runs out, however I am not sure if I will buy it. It is really expensive, more than I've never paid for a microexfoliant and I would like to see what it does for my skin in the long term.
I've received several trial size containers of this stuff in the past year or so, and there's a reason I keep collecting them!
This is a really nifty product. I believe it is finely ground rice that is the exfoliant which is something I've never seen before. To use the product you simply wet your hands, then pour some powder in and rub together. The wetness on your hands turns it into a slight paste and you gently rub this all over your face.
I love how my skin feels after using this... soft and refreshed with no irritation (I have VERY sensitive skin!). It's a very gentle exfoliant and a little goes a long way.
One issue I have with it is that it is very drying--you definitely want to put some moisture back into your skin after this. I would also recommend only using it once or twice a week depending on skin type.
My other issue is that the price is totally outrageous! It's only available at certain spas or at the Dermalogica office, so it's got a hefty price tag. I think I saw it for $75 at one location.
To get around having to buy it, I keep my eyes peeled for free samples, or I sign up for a skin clinic with Dermalogica--you go to their offices and learn how to take care of your skin and receive a small sample kit and snacks for $10. This seems like a better deal to me.
I think this is a great product and will continue using my samples, but I don't think I'd ever pay full price for it!
I love this stuff! I've heard about Dermalogica couple of years ago, but didn't intend on trying their products because they were just too expensive. I opted out to drugstore brands and thought who would buy an exfoliator for $75?? About a month ago, I caved in and splurged the Precleanse, Ultracalming Cleanser as well as the MicroScrub from Dermalogica. Let me tell you - its the best investment I've never made. I generally have clear skin, but I do have small blemishes on my left cheek. After two weeks of using the Microsrub, I was able to see a difference on my skin. The face looked healthier, spots were gone and the bumps on my forehead dissapeared. I wasn't able to get these results with my drugstore products. I am swearing by this for the rest of my life! Yes, the products are expensive, but you really get what you pay for. I've been using it for more than a month, but I don't wear any make up to work because I don't need any! Great buy - really really recommend it.
FANTASTIC stuff!
It's a bit pricey at approx. $75/bottle, but worth every penny. I bought a bottle in February (that's about 6 mths ago and it's still going strong) and have been using it every morning in the shower. You only need about a dime-sized amount of the powder, then mix it with a couple of drops of water and voila! My skin feels great, soft, smooth, moisturized and I now rarely get blemishes. It's totally worth the price!
If you've never tried this stuff, you must give it a go because it's the best exfoliator you'll ever try! It's a finely milled powder, that when mixed with water becomes a light exfoliating paste (no grimy, sand-like texture!) that exfoliates gently to give your face a radiant glow. It's so mild, you can use it every day!
