Garnier Olia is a new, different way of colouring your hair. It has an oil delivery system which allows for better colour absorption. Garnier claims that the system uses oil to repel an ammonia derivative (MEA) and force it into the water based hair fiber. Because it uses flower oils, Olia "improves hair quality" with nourishing polymers.
I was given a bottle to use and test out to see how I liked it. I have to say, this is different than other dyes. When dying my hair, I could feel the oiliness of the product on the gloves and even after rinsing my hair, it felt like I had just done an oil treatment or mask on it. I like the design of the dye. The bottle you use for applying the dye is easy to use and you don't spill out too much, you can concentrate on where you want it. I also felt like, because it was an oil dye, it wasn't as runny, the dye stayed where I put it.
I wasn't a fan of the gloves though, they were an inexpensive plastic material and tight. I would have preferred a latex glove. The dye process is similar to that of any other dye, it takes a bit longer though. As for the colour, I do notice that my hair is really uniform, rich and textured, the colour isn't flat. One complaint I do have is that my colour isn't what I had anticipated. I thought it was going to be a lighter, red tinged colour but it's actually quite dark. It's still very nice, but not what I expected.
This dye is a bit more than others on the shelf, but I would recommend it. I like the idea of an oil system because I don't think it's as harsh as other dyes. My hair feels soft after dying it. I would try this again, solely because I like the nourishing effects of the dye, but I would try with a different colour to see if I had the same issues.
