Lac-Hydrin Lotion is absolutely amazing. This item I found at Shoppers Drug Mart for around $19 for 225 ml. My doctor had suggested it for my hands and feet. This is what I have noticed. It has a creamy consistency and takes about 5 minutes to truly soak in. Don't forget to shake each and every time you apply this cream. It may seem a bit greasy, but it is not. It takes several hand washings before it washes off. Once this wonderful cream soaks in, you will notice smoother and hydrated hands and feet. I have been using this cream for about 3 years now. I bought it because it supposed to heal rough, scaly, dry skin associated with itching. I suffer from cracked fingers and heels. This cream has solved this problem for me. Not only does it stop my skin from cracking, it smooths and corrects uneven skin tones along with getting rid of those unsightly brown spots. Sun exposure to areas of the skin treated with Lac-Hydrin Cream should be minimized or avoided. I use it at bedtime. *Lac-Hydrin is a formulation of 12% lactic acid neutralized with ammonium hydroxide. Lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid. It is for external use only. Stinging or burning may occur when applied to skin with fissures, erosions, or that is otherwise abraded (for example, after shaving the legs). Caution is advised when used on the face because of the potential for irritation.

My Dermatologist recommended this product to me for my Keratosis Pilaris inflicted skin condition(Google KP to clear out any confusion and no, its not contagious!).

The lotion itself is a formulation of 12% lactic acid, neutralized with ammonium hydroxide, asammonium lactate to provide a lotion pH of 4.5-5.5. This chiefly is used to get rid of itchy/dry skin and hence, can be VERY sticky. Also, as this is used mainly for medicative purposes don't expect it to smell of lillies and strawberries. It smells of ammonia! :)

Directions to use with some precautions: The bottle(and the doc) say to use it twice daily (after showering and before bed-time). If you are going to be exposed to the sun, the lactic acid can cause sensitivity to the Sun so use a good SPF over this lotion but make sure this lotion's the first thing that touches your epidermis, then the SPF. Also, if you don't like the smell, layer it with some lighter version of your fav. smelling lotion. ( I wouldn't necessarily recommend this during the summers because Lac-Hydrin's quite sticky by itself). Any cuts or scrapes or recent shaving is going to sting after the instant application of this lotion.

I normally use this after thoroughly exfoliating and cleansing my skin. Exfoliate with a homemade sugar oats scrub and cleanse with Cetaphil cleanser(or a nice Dove moisturising body wash). Then layer on this lotion, let it absorb for some time. It'll still feel sticky but don't worry most of it has been absorbed. After the entire sticky feeling goes away, you are left with super-smooth skin. I have extremely dry, scaly skin and I moisturize even during the summers. I usually opt for body shop's body butters (as they smell yummy) but this one works wayyyyy better than them (but it stinks..lightly!) I have been using this for the past 3 weeks, my KP seems to be receeding and yes, my skins going the baby bum smooth way..the one which I've always longed for :D (Yayy!! no more pineapple skin)

There are several less expensive/expensive options to Lac-Hydrin which can be google'd (also, tonnes of info on KP) or found at Sephora. Since, I'm in the experimental phase, I'll try to stick to affordable options till I find a good concrete solution.

In addition, since I'm doing my skin a huge favour and clearing out the excess keratin build-up around my pores and the associated inflamation, my pores will no longer hold back my shaved hair and make them curl under my skin (i.e. help me avoid ingrowns..which has been the ultimate aim of my life since time immemorable :)) Wooohooo, double bonanza!!

**User Advisory: The sticky and stinky consistency does no favours to the person sharing your bed. Get used to being ewww'd at but at the same time know in your mind, that you are one step closer to flauting those super-smooth legs**
