Lightly herbal, oaky and spicy
This is my first time trying out a non-alcoholic Japanese whiskey! It's lightly herbal, oaky and spicy and has a slight warming and numbing feel. It would be a fancy option to a bubbly or pop for those not drinking. And if you're holding a glass of this, people probably wouldn't even notice you weren't drinking.
Now for the real talk: It doesn't have the intense punch of real whiskey, is quite light and a tastes watered down. It definitely wouldn't fool a whiskey drinker. But I think this is for people who don't want a drink but want something more sophisticated than a can of pop. And I think where this whiskey shines is in a cocktail or mixer to add a depth of flavour without the side effects (like a hangover). I think this would make a great addition to any party bar to offer guests more alternatives.

Delicious , like the real thing
Love Mad Moose Japanese whiskey. I now have little to no alcohol tolerances but non-alcoholic spirits make amazing cocktails. Only 10 cals per service and beautifully wax dipped bottle, it’s all oaked, and neat and tastes like whiskey (unlike non—alcoholic red wine that does not taste like wine ever 🤣).

Pretty tasty
I'm not a whiskey person so I was a bit nervous about trying this. But I was pleasantly surprised by the aroma of it (oaky and fruity). The texture was very smooth and velvety, and has warm herby notes that are almost sweet. There's a lot of barley remnants in it, making the drink kind of cloudy looking and was offputting at first, but when I drank some, I didn't detect any of the remnants. They're easily removeable by waiting for the drink to settle or straining. I personally would mix this drink and not drink it straight, but it's pretty good!

Sassy and lemony! Perfect refresher
The flavour had an earthy and lemony taste to it, and was best on ice. I added some mandarins and it really brought out a sassiness! I would not characterize it as whiskey-tasting, as it is much lighter and refreshing. One noye: maybe it was me, but the wax sealer was difficult to open.

Packaging and taste
Not my first time trying Mad Moose products, but despite quite liking their other alcohol-free whisky, this one was a miss for me. The packaging looks great aesthetically but was difficult to open. The sediment in the liquid prior to opening and after pouring was not particularly appetizing nor inviting.
The scent did have a whisky burn and the same can be said of the flavour but I think it’s missing some notes to truly make it a replacement for Japanese whisky.

Lacking in taste
I had high hopes for this product as I absolutely love whiskey. Unfortunately, I found that it doesn't taste like whisky at all, more like apple cider, and the taste was initially quite off-putting. It got better as I kept drinking it but still tasted quite mild and more like diluted apple juice w/ cinnamon/spices and a bit of a smokey flavour. The bottle is beautiful but was very difficult to open due to the wax. The liquid was quite cloudy with lots of deposits in it, which made me wonder if it was still good or had gone off somehow, and I wasn't sure if we were supposed to shake it or not as there was no instruction about this. Overall, I did not enjoy the taste and would not buy or recommend this product as a non-alcoholic/whiskey substitute.

Surprisingly close to whiskey
Honestly, I was pretty surprised by the taste. It actually tastes quite a lot like whiskey, with a nice spicy note. Of course, it’s not exactly the same as regular whiskey, but it definitely gives me that whiskey-drinking feeling without the alcohol.
I like that it’s only 10 calories per serving, plant-based, and made in Canada.
I prefer having it over ice, it really gives me that feeling of sitting down and enjoying a glass of whiskey!
If you’re looking for something a little more sophisticated than a Diet Coke or bubbly, this could be a fun option to try.

Interesting aroma
Wanna try something different than your regular alcoholic drinks or soft drinks? 🥃 We tried Mad Moose Japanese Alcohol-Free Whiskey and the aroma is interesting. 🫎 It is smooth and has some unique floral notes with a warm oak finish. 🤎 Something different than the regular whiskey we usually have but with the alcoholic taste. Crafted in Canada. 🇨🇦
