Here's the thing about sunscreen: it's necessary, but I hate it. I love summer, but I have very fair skin, hence I burn easily. It's not a good mix. I also have very sensitive and oily skin so whichever sunscreen I use has to be able to cope with that. I really like the Neutrogena sheer dry touch sunscreen (SPF 55) because it gives me the protection I need from the sun without a)making my face look greasy (it dries to a matte, almost velvety consistency) and b)without affecting my sensitive skin. I've had my one tube of sunscreen for 3 summers now, so it lasts a long time too. I don't think it's too expensive for what you're getting, this product really is top-notch without breaking the bank. Sun protection is so important!; unless you want to damage your skin from the sun
I absolutely recommend this sunscreen! I believe it even comes in SPF 75!
I actually bought the Neutrogena UltraSheer DryTouch SPF 110. Yes I know, when will I ever need SPF 110 living in Canada? When I visit the sun of course! jk :) I figured since they all cost the same, best to get bang for my bucks by getting the highest SPF I could find lol.
Onto the review: The price was fair, I paid about $10 at Wallmart which I don't think is too much for a good SPF. It goes on OK, it doesn't really go on smooth like a cream, but perhaps that's how it's supposed to be. If you plan on putting on makeup then wait a few minutes for the SPF to dry and go ahead with your makeup. It doesn't leave your face slick or oily at all, and it doesn't give the "white" ghost face when taking flash photos. Wears well under makeup, doesn't look cakey. I'm assuming it does the job of protecting my skin as I don't get burnt. My hubby and I went out a lot this summer and the first few weeks he didn't wear sunscreen he got burnt pretty badly. Not me though. Goes to show men should listen to their wives and waste the extra few minutes in putting on the SPF ;-)
All in all I would recommend this product as a good sunscreen.
On the plus side, it is not too greasy and does not cause my face to break-out. On the negative, though, even with the high spf, it simply doesn't work -- I am getting sunburned when I have lathered it on before going out ... most recently on a cloudy day. I will be looking for a replacement before July. Maybe another ChickAdvisor will have the solution for me!
Not for me. This does have a bit of a dry feel to it, but upon application, I broke out like a prepubescent boy!
Definitely will not try again. It was a little oily to the touch, which should have been the first sign that i will break out upon wearing it. However, I tried it out for a about a week ,and my skin was extremely oily the entire time, though I usually have quite a dry face.
I didn't get tanned though, which I guess was a plus...but all in all, I'd probably use this as a body sunscreen rather than facial.
I agree with the other reviewers that this product is quite pricey. However, it's really good on my sensitive skin. I don't break out from this and it's not thick or appear oily. Plus SPF 55 makes me feel like I'm really protected (even if it is psychological). I def recommend this product. It's my favorite sunscreen.
I like this product because it's not oily and gross like other sunscreen. The only problem was the price. The extra money was because the SPF was 45 and the higher the SPF is the more expensive. which is annoying because 45 or 50 SPF is no more effective than 30 and they 45 was the lowest they had. The would recommend trying to find on sale because a little container can last a while.
I hardly ever leave my house without applying Neutrogena Sunblock (even in the Winter!) It not only has a non-greasy feel to it, but it does its job, protecting you from the sun. I am even able to apply makeup over this sunblock (as it can act as a moisturizer) without streaking or problems. Neutrogena Sunblock does have a slight, yet pleasant scent to it, but it isn't like your typical sunblock that overpowers the scent of your perfume.
This is a topnotch sunblock offered at a great price that I recommend to anyone.
This sunscreen seemed to do its job... It certainly minimized my sunburns as someone with little to no pigment in high UV weather. While not entirely invisible under makeup, it was certainly on par with the best ones I've tried before in terms of blending it. This all said, after I started using this, I started breaking out more than usual and it only seemed to resolve when I stopped using it again. Perhaps using it at limited points during the day and washing off promptly when I get home rather than wearing it continuously under makeup might help mitigate that.
We went to our grandson's soccer game and it was a sunny, hot day. We had to stand out in the direct sun from 1;00pm to 5:30pm and thought that we would be burnt to a crisp.
Thankfully we had some Neurtogena SPF 55 sunscreen with us. We lathered up well with it and we never got sunburnt at all. We have used other brands over time and found this one the best one yet. It is not greasy or sticky like some of the others are and best of all it works!
I love this sunscreen and recommend it to everyone!
I hate having sand stick to me at the beach, and this sunscreen really feels like its not even there after a few minutes! It sinks in and protects me from burns, but without that gross "I have a layer of grease on me" feeling.
Another reviewer said it irritated her face, but that may just be a freak thing since I have pretty sensitive skin and have never had an issue with it. I have it in SPF 30, so maybe the different SPF formulations are a bit different.
Anyway, this suncscreen is the best I have ever used and is als not at all expensive. A great deal!!!
