I have a wii and it was my first actual console and as much as i hear people complain about the graphics i still love it and use it.
I got this as an xmas present a few years ago. I love the interactive games like bowling and tennis. it gets the kids up and moving around and having fun too. We also use it for Netflix which is so much cheaper than cable. I got the red wii too. I am looking to buy the wii fit next and games my 3 year old can play. yes, they should not be playing it but when it rains or snows there isnt a lot of options for indoor fun.
I bought this system 1 year after it came out on the market...for my husband and I! He loves playing video games and I enjoy the old school games that I used to play on Nintendo, Super Nintendo and N64 such as Mario, Mario Kart, etc. We also really enjoy the action games, such as the sports and dance games, as it utilizes what the system was made for - picking up your motion and controlling the players or movement on screen. The price has come down a lot since it first came out - I think it was reasonable to begin with and even more so now - lots of deals to be had. My cousins and other kids alike really enjoy playing games on the system as it is unique.
Great for kids classic games however the controllers are costly to replace unless you buy the cheap ones and the charger for batteries never lasts long the unit itself is awesome I have a first gen and it still works with no issues
Although I have wii fit & a bunch of other games, I never play them! I use my wii exclusively for Net Flix. Every console brand have slightly different setting for Netflix. The search settings are limited & I find the wii controller kind of annoying & unstable when it's used as a remote control. When not in use I have to face the controller away from the TV otherwise the pointer hand stays on the screen & the battery runs in the controller. For some reason it takes several click & holds to turn it off & sometimes the console actually randomly turns itself back on. But all in all it works well, connects to Netflix with no issues. I say its good but not great.
Loving the Nintendo Wii on those cold days ! Wii Sports keeps my girls and me active! A terrific buy all around!
Let's be honest, I mostly use my Wii to watch Netflix (awesome) and to play Mario games. Other than that I don't really use it for much else! It is fun and entertaining though and I think it is great for kids to play interactive games.
Its a fun console with lots of fun games across many genres. The biggest issue I have is that the controls can get a bit annoying and draining for some games as you have to wave your arms around or try and be super accurate on the screen. Good for any Nintendo lover.
The Wii was a good purchase for us, because we live in an area where the weather makes it near impossible to spend much time outdoors in the summer. Wii Sports fills that activity gap. It gets the boys up and moving, while providing fun entertainment and family interaction. If we never played any other games on it except the Sports Resort that came bundled with it, it would still be a worthwhile investment. For an additional cost we added the Wii tablet that lets the boys draw, color, doodle, and do various sorts of artwork on the TV, and they love that as well. The console costs about the same as others on the market (Xbox, PS, etc) and the games are comparable, though we tend to get ours used from eBay for way cheaper.
