Not for me

I was kindly sent this to review by NYX. The brush is a weird shape which I have never seen on a mascara before. It is hourglass shaped but also rounded. The bristles are all the same length. It also has a swiper in the tube so that the brush has the right amount of product on. I found it difficult to apply to my inner corner lashes as I couldn’t figure out how best to hold the brush to get them – I did poke myself in the eye several times. It applies lovely and has a matte finish which I love. The first week I only wore one coat and didn’t notice much lift effect to my lashes. The second week onwards I applied two coats and saw a lift in my lashes. My lashes in with two coats were flexible and didn’t clump. The only downside to this mascara is that it dropped and as someone with Dry Eye it is not good to get bits of mascara in my eyes. I would have liked bristles on the end so that I could hold the brush vertical in order to apply mascara to the inner corner lashes.

Nice brush design but formula was awful

Was excited to use this when I saw the brush (it has regular domed sides, and also hourglass sides), but after a couple uses I was quickly over it. Firstly, the tube neck doesn’t pinch the brush enough to remove excess product so it deposits a lot and easily clumps. I had to wipe the brush off to get a even swipe.
The mascara dries quite slowly and would always get on my upper lid and smudge, however I found it very difficult to remove with makeup wipes & micellar. Despite the long-wear, it flakes a lot: at the end of the day (and in the morning, since I’d have to sleep with whatever I couldn’t get off at night), my lower lid would be shadowed by dust & flecks from it. I prefer formulas that dry soft and flexible and this was stiff & crunchy.

Not for me

It's a good product but definitely it's not for me, my eyelashes are so straight and that doesn't keep me curled. I think for persons who have so curly them eyelashes can be a good product.

pretty for every day natural lashes

This is a nice product if you're going for a subtle natural look. It did lengthen my lashes a bit and did not clump or smudge, but it's not my favourite mascara.

Average Mascara

I have never tried a NYX mascara before, but I was excited to try this mascara as I'm familiar with their the quality of their products. I have short Asian lashes, so I'm typically looking for a mascara that will provide good lift, hold a curl, and lengthen. Unfortunately, unlike their their lip products which are one of the highest quality lip product lines in the drugstore, this mascara did not perform up to par.

The pros: this mascara is good at separating lashes and does not clump. After 2 coats, there is some volume.

The cons: this mascara does not lengthen well or hold a curl. After 4 hours, I found it had smudged on my lower lash line. I find it takes a lot of effort to make my lashes look presentable, whereas my typical mascara would cut that time in half. For the price, I think it is average, but there are other mascaras in the same price range that work better for my needs.

Average mascara

This mascara didn't live up to my expectations. On the one hand, it does exactly what it claims: it adds length and makes my lashes more voluminous. On the other hand, it smudges on my like crazy and starts crumbling one hour after the application. Unfortunately, that's a pass for me.

Not the greatest wand

I received the NYX On the Rise volume mascara free to test from chickadvisor. I’m really disappointed to say that this is one of the worst mascaras I have ever tried. The shape of the brush on the wand was bulky and wavy which make it difficult to coat the lower lashes which resulted in the mascara getting smeared on my face and on the top lashes it wouldn’t go on properly on the corners. The bristles of the brush are super sharp and when I tried to go in right at the start of the lash the bristles jabbed my eye and made my eyes swollen and tears streaked down my face making my makeup ruined. I tried this a couple times after and the formula gets really chunky and goopy so you can’t layer. I had to throw it out.

If its Bold you want...

I was super excited to try this mascara specifically for the lift aspect its labeled for. I am all for the bold and dramatic look, it's my go to, however when this mascara dried it became very clumpy looking. I think this mascara would perform better with a comb that has teeth spread out more. I found I couldn't comb through my lashes to get a good enough coverage to prevent clumping. After about 5 to 6 comb throughs I had a very bold, intense lash look which is fine, but I feel like the product will not last me long if I have to do that with ever application. I do love the packing and it was super easy to remove even after wearing it all day!

Not as Volumizing as Lengthening!!

As I have super flat, thin, long lashes, I was super excited to try this out.

The colour and consistency is great, and it lengthened my lashes a lot, but I didn’t find it really volumized (as you can see) 🥺

I probably wouldn’t pay for it, but anyone with shorter lashes should give it a try! 😊

Too dry

I had high hope for this mascara because Of the before-after picture on the packaging. However, this doesn’t do much for my lashes. The texture is too dry and I don’t see any difference. The good thing that it stays all day.
