I am really not into the whole energy bar thing. Every one I have tried, I haven't liked. There is just something about them that makes my taste buds contract and yell out to me "Noooooo!" They always leave an odd taste in my mouth that I never seem to be able to get rid of. My stomach really doesn't care for them either. I get that aftertaste in the form of a burp, which I think is my stomachs way of saying "Take that!" and getting back at me. -lol-

I was actually cringing while opening the wrapper. I could feel my stomach curdle in hesitation. I had a Chocolate Almond Biscotti and a glass of milk at the ready so I could rid my taste buds of any distasteful flavour and appease my stomach. Lord knows I do not want those nasty "puke burps" coming back at me.

I sit here staring at this bar. Sniffing it to see if it has an odd scent. Glancing over the packaging, reading the ingredients. Molasses - ewwwww! Not a fan usually and Amaranth flour? What praytell is Amaranth flour? Okay, I admit I had to Google. I'm not an encyclopedia, yanno -lol- According to Livestrong.com: Amaranth flour is derived from the seeds of the amaranth plant. This type of flour is typically seen in health food stores, but some regular food stores carry it as well. It has grown in popularity because it is gluten-free, and many individuals who cannot have gluten cook with this type of flour for its health benefits. Okay, so it's good for me, I guess, not a good sign. -lol- Good for you usually = bad tasting! In my opinion anyhow, especially when it comes to energy bars!!

The moment of truth - I slowly take a bite. A tiny one at first. The bar is soft, sticky and chewy. I find myself able to keep chewing making sure that every taste within rolls across my taste buds. I take another bite, a bigger one this time. I am rather pleased. It actually tastes good!!! There is a hint of molasses flavour but it is bearable, in my opinion. -lol- I am truly impressed and that is saying a lot - for me anyhow. I never thought I would ever have the opportunity to experience a great tasting energy bar - until now!! I guess I didn't need my back up plan after all. -lol-

Ingredients: molasses, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, brown rice syrup, ground almonds, amaranth flour, chia seeds, baking soda
