Leaves a Tropical Taste with Every Bite
I've never baked with coconut flour before...and it's definitely a different experience!
It takes twice as much coconut flour vs grain flour to make it a substitute. With that, liquids pretty much have to also be doubled in order to make something edible.
I started with Banana Bread, and it was a bit of a flop. It was denser than I am used to, and I didn't like the coconut taste that went along with the Banana.
After that disaster, I had my paleo friend over, and she whipped us up some cocoa brownies, and it was amazing! It tasted pretty similar to mainstream flour, but a bit sweeter (the coconut taste).
She said the value was good for the bag, as she usually shops at the Bulk Barn for no-name coconut flour.
So, I feel after a few recipes, I should be able to master it - I just need to ensure that I am okay with a light coconut taste in everything I bake.
It's defintely a nice flavour with pancakes for breakfast, so it's a good start - I didn't not make them into hockey pucks. I also have made some stellar smoothies with tropical flare with a tablespoon of coconut flour to help thicken it up.
