Not as Bitter as Anticipated

I was a bit hesitant about these cacao nibs at first, as I'm not a chocolate lover to begin with, but they are better than anticipated.

They don't have the bitter taste I thought they would, but aren't as sweet as normal chocolate chips (which I prefer less sweet). I try to stay away from sugar, so these work perfectly in my cookies and muffins, making them healthier options on a regular basis.

I have also tried them in my peanut butter protein balls and granola bars - and they add another healthy ingredient to these quick snacks.

Overall, the price point is a bit higher than I prefer, but worth it due to the healthier factor.

I've never been one for health foods, particularly, but I do like to eat something healthy in between the junk food! These 'nibs' are kind of chopped up cacao beans, or nuts, or whatever they are. They certainly seem to be exactly like chopped nuts, but with a kind of chocolate taste. (no kidding!) I find you have to chew them for a while before the flavor comes out. I plan to use them in my next batch of cookies, see what that's like. Since I have partial dentures, I can't really eat them raw, as they tend to get underneath. They come in a heavy package, with a zip seal top. It's a bit tricky to close as you have to make sure the track is clear of bits, but it does work. If you want natural cacao, this is for you!
