Breyers Double Churn Dark Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream

So, this ice cream must be incredibly popular in my area because it took forever to find it in stock in any stores. But, it was definitely worth searching for. The chocolate flavor is great and isn't an overly sweet milk chocolate like many chocolate ice creams tend to be. The texture is different from many ice creams too, as it seems to be light and maybe even fluffy (if that is possible) I usually am not a fan of chocolate ice cream, but this stuff is pretty good (almost as good as real chocolate!) I would recommend trying it, but I'm not too sure if I would buy this flavour again at regular price ($6.99).

I get this HUGE package in the mail, I almost didn't want to open it because I didn't order anything lately. So when I open it, out comes this neat package from Breyer's....

It was so cute I HAD to take pictures, and I was dying to see what was inside this box. At first I was like "this can't be the ice cream in here, they must be crazy"....turns out that they gave me three bowls and spoons so I can share with friends and family...what a wicked idea

I'm not a fan of dark chocolate, but the Dark Chocolate Velvet was so nice and smooth (hence the word velvet, duh!). It's definitely not bitter like the regular dark chocolate bars so that was a plus right there.

The only problem is that I'm not sure if this icecream is worth the $6.99...it should be cheaper

First of all, I was very impressed with the package that arrived from Breyers. It was a really lovely gesture for them to send 3 little ice cream bowls and spoons.

Since I'm lacking in freezer space I decided to throw an ice cream party so my friends could help me test out the 3 ice cream flavours.

Hands down, this was the winner of the evening, which is probably no surprise. Everyone loved the dark chocolate flavour, including me, even though I prefer milk chocolate.

We all felt that $8 was a bit much for the tub of ice cream, and more than once people remarked "what's with the double churn thing?" It seemed to raise people's expectations for the quality of ice cream, and while it was quite creamy, it didn't seem all that different from other ice cream we've eaten.

I've always been a fan of Breyers ice Cream so when I had the chance to review this product, I couldn't have been happier!

Chocolate is one of my favourite ice cream flavours and this Dark Chocolate Velvet didn't disappoint! It was smooth, creamy, and very rich. Absolutely amazing. It is one of the best chocolate ice creams I've ever tried. Even if you don't like dark chocolate, you'll like this ice cream. I wouldn't say that it tastes like dark chocolate but, it is just a more intense chocolate taste than you normally get from chocolate ice cream. I would definitely recommend this if you're wanting to treat yourself or try something new.

The one and only thing I didn't like was that I found it melted a lot quicker than other ice creams. So that just means you need to eat it a little faster :)

The cheapest I saw this ice cream for was $6.99 and that was at No Frills, so unless this ice cream was on sale, i probably would only purchase it for special events or if I was having people over for dinner because it's on the pricey side but well worth treating yourself to every once in awhile.

I was blessed to be able to test this through the review club. Before I say anything about the actual product, I must say I loved the sharing kit. The packaging was very cute, and the bowls that came with are perfect size for me.

Now down to buissness. This ice cream was phenomenal!! It is officially my favourite ice cream, even over Ben & Jerry's Half Baked.

What I loved: I usually am more of a milk chocolate girl, so when I heard this was "Dark Velvet" I was a little hesitant. Yes it was dark and intense, but it was sooooo delicious! It was very creamy and the flavour just popped in my mouth.

What I didn't like: I personally found that the ice cream melted really fast. I know it's getting warmer, but the speed that it was melting seemed a little too fast.

All in all, like I said before, this ice cream is my new favourite. The price is a little on the high side somewhere between $7-$9 depending on where you get it, but honestly, it's well worth it. I've already told all my friends to get it, so ofcourse I would recommend it!

Of the 3 flavors that I tried (Banana Cream Pie, Chocolate Cheesecake and Dark Chocolate Velvet), this was my favourite!
It was smooth, rich, creamy & fluffy...and melts in your mouth.
I don't normally like dark chocolate but this was great!

This was probably the best of the Banana Cream Pie, Chocolate Cheesecake and Dark Chocolate Velvet. It melted in your mouth because the texture was so thick and creamy- an experience you dont get with most ice creams. I'm not generally a fan of dark chocolate, so dont let the name put you off- its not super sweet, but more so than I expected. This is one ice cream you cant afford not to try- everyone from my ten year old sister to my dad loved this ice cream, so as an occasional indulgence (due to the price) this is perfect

well this is the third that i have taste tested and i think one of the best :) it was rich and creamy but not too sweet it was like eating a nice piece of melt in your mouth belgian chocolate from the shop and yet it still remains light in texture and taste, so in order for me it would be....

i do have to say though if you love ice cream and eat it often the price for any if not all of these can hit you hard unless you live alone lol and your the only one indulging in but would i reccomend it??????

This one's fabulous. It's very chocolately. I don't particularly like dark chocolate, but this ice cream is great. Very creamy. The chocolate flavour is more intense than most ice creams. I think the price is a bit high though (it was $8 at my local Loblaws) so I'm not sure if I would purchase it - maybe if it's on sale.

I received three flavours of Breyers Double Churn ice cream to review: Banana Cream Pie, Chocolate Cheesecake and Dark Chocolate velvet. All of them tasted wonderfully decadent, smooth, rich, creamy, but not too dense or sweet and the ice cream was light and fluffy in texture. All three tasted true to their names.

The first one I tried was the dark chocolate velvet. OMG, i am in HEAVEN! This was my favourite out of the three that I reviewed. The taste is rich, creamy and smooth and the chocolate flavour tastes like a very high quality dark chocolate that you would find in a gourmet food shop. The chocolate ice cream is better than ordinary chocolate ice creams due to the richness and taste of the dark, dark chocolate. Sometimes it tastes like a brownie. It's smooth, and creamy. So decadent! The texture of the ice cream is also amazing. It's so smooth, fluffy and light - it would be easy to get carried away while eating it. =) Two thumbs up!!!

These are probably the best ice creams I have tasted in a long time. I also loved the packaging of the gift box that came with three cute round bowls and sundae spoons (plus ice cream vouchers that I redeemed at the store)! I had my girlfriends over who also LOVED the ice cream and we sat around raving about how great all the ice creams were while watching a movie!

We would rate them all a 8.5/9 out of 10!
