This store has some pretty good staples and really trendy basics, but you'd think they would be cheaper for just basics. You end up paying a lot for a few basics. But they have everything you need to be trendy. Some of their stuff I would never wear and I would never take someone seriously if they only wore AA clothes, but I like their basics. But I would shop there more if their clothes were cheaper.

This store is all about mixing and matching. You have to add your own personal style with a few signature pieces in order to make American Apparel work. PLEASE, do not wear it head to toe.. be original. Its definitely a store that took me awhile to get into because I always thought you had to be 6'4 long and lean to wear these clothes.. but really it can be great if you are trying to hide alittle tummy. I recommend their baggy t-shirts with deep V's paired with your own jeans, boots and a long necklace (think kensington market, Courage of my Love). Ok, and here is a helpful hint if you love those spandax leather tights.... FIRSTLY, please pair it with a classy dress and high heels to balance out the rocker/prep look which I love. SECONDLY, beware, it is sooo hot and sticky in those spandax that its not for a dancing night on the town.... choose wisely!

This store probably isn't for everyone, but if you keep an open mind you can find really great things here! They definitely have embraced a retro 80's feel to their clothing, but they also sell staples like t's, leggings, scarves and a wrap dress that you can tie for more than 15 different looks. (seriously, 15 completley different looks!)

I picked up a wrap dress and some headbands. They have every color possible to choose from.

This store was straight out of a bad 1980's movie. Wayyyy too much spandex and polyester for my likings. My girlfriend purchased a hoodie dress, probably the only thing I could see myself wearing from AA. Definately not a store I would ever step foot into again. Not to mention it was extremely pricey for what they are selling.

The staff was great! The store offers many different shades of colours in a verity of styles. They have great leggings in every colour you could imagine. I definitely recommend it for those who are looking for a retro Halloween costume.

The clothes are of average price, but for what they are and what they are meant to be used as (athletics) I find it overpriced. Not a big fan of the return to the 80s that they have embraced.

Every colour in the rainbow, high quality and sweatshop free. American Apparel is great for basics, colourful stockings, and versatile stretchy dresses.

I have a few AA things, but my favourites are the stockings and the stretchy dresses. The stockings are much better quality than you will find in most clothing stores. I usually run mine the day I get them, but these are tougher and more durable. I always get compliments on my stretchy dresses and the material is thick enough that you don't need a perfect figure to pull it off.

It is pricier than clothing made in sweatshops (which is most of what we buy, by the way), but I would rather pay more and know that the workers making the clothes are being fairly compensated.

I will definitely continue to shop here and recommend it to everyone.

I never have been a huge fan of AA, though I have many friends and family members that absolutely love this store. The clothes are more expensive because they are suppose to be produced manufactured in LA.

What I do like about AA is the range of colours in which you can find clothes. I cannot say that they are exactly the most "fashion-forward" but they are more or less more vintage, casual and comfortable. Lots of tights -- it is a great place to get them! And in many different colours.

I think AA was one of the stand out stores at the Shop Crawl, in a sense where the clothes are unusual to what we find in most Shop Crawl stores. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed going to AA that night to show the diversity of different stores we go to, and to prove that the definition of style comes from a wide range of unique places.

With that being said, I think I may come back here one day for an AA hoodie. I heard that they're really comfortable :)

Plain and simple clothes. A good place to go if you need basics. It was totally more expensive than I thought it would be. But very good quality. It was easy to mix and match pieces. The staff was super helpful.
