Alphabet (by Gymboree) Reviews
#1068 in Books

This charming introduction to the ABCs features large, easy-to-read letters shown in both upper and lower case. Each letter appears  by itself and in a word, allowing little ones to see it in action. Turning from the A in airplane to the Z in zebra, and all of the letters in between, Gymboree Alphabet engages and entertains youngsters as they master this essential language building block.

This simple board book from the folks at Gymboree helps preschoolers learn the alphabet with fun pictures matched to their upper- and lowercase featured letter. It is an extremely basic book without any extra text or learning activities, and it's part of the new Gymboree board book series (other titles are 'Colors', 'Numbers', and 'Shapes').

What I like about this book is its simplicity, colorful pictures, and the fact that it is a board book.

On the negative side, I already own the Gymboree alphabet flash cards which I find to be a better value (I've reviewed that set on ChickAdvisor as well) because they offer more activities with the same learning goals. I don't think you'll get the same mileage from this book, and yet I hesitate to say that I think this book would be a waste of money.

The bottom line is: buy the flash cards instead. This book gets a qualified pass from me.
