It really does calm the itchiness.

And best yet, the itching is dealt with short-term as well as long-term because of the massive amount of deep moisturizing that Aveeno's Eczema Care does.

When I received it free for reviewing through ChickAdvisor I immediately noted its scent was so mild that there must be no added scent to the product. I went on to read the package where is states that it's good for calming skin irritations due to eczema and rashes, and that the active ingredient is colloidal oatmeal. I immediately put it on my two problem areas - my hands and just under my nose; the latter even sometimes blistering and flaking a little which can be embarrassing.

I noticed my hands not being being as itchy pretty soon after the first application, and after several days of use my skin on my hands had completely calmed down. The redness and flaking where my nose meets my upper lip had also calmed down! I believe that to be because of the strict moisture barrier the Eczema Care balm places on the skin. It actually gave my skin the protection it needed to begin to heal itself.

I wholeheartedly recommend it, even as an essential part of the arsenal of eczema products those severely affected may have. It works, there is so much product for the price, and the container is a very attractive beige/baby blue combination. And even if it's purchased for eczema/rash itch relief, it also doubles perfectly for regular problem dry skin areas.

I wish I had discovered this sooner.

I suffer from eczema on my hands that is worse in the winter. My son has eczema year round on various parts of his body. This cream is thick and creamy and feels so soothing when it’s applied. The only thing missing is a little spatula in the lid or something to apply it with as I am not a fan of products in big tubs like this. I felt the barrier working and the itching lessened immediately. After two weeks my skin was noticeabley softer and my son and my eczema was significantly reduced. Even though the price seemed a bit high (around 23 bucks at my local drugstore) I feel like it is worth every penny and I will be repurchasing it. A moisturizing eczema balm

I was really excited to try Aveeno Eczema Care Itch Relief Balm because I have a lot of redness and dry skin. The balm itself is very moisturizing. It is a thick consistency, kind of like a thick cream and petroleum jelly mixed together, but it is non-greasy. I used it on the back of my hands because they tend to get red and crack in the cold winter air, and it was very healing. It was also very effective on any patches I got on my body that tend to get red and flaky.

I tried it on my face because I have bad eczema around my chin and unfortunately it did not work. After a few days it was really flaring up and spreading so I had to switch back to my usual products, and mixing in some tea tree oil which helped to calm it down. Its been 2 weeks and the area still looks scarred from the flare up. Im not sure if it was due to the cold weather, the change in my skincare, or if it was bound to flare up but it was not effective on my face. I cant really blame this balm for it because I have found it has been hit or miss whether products work for me or not. I found the balm to be very healing otherwise, and would recommend it for people with mild eczema, or for someone looking for an amazing moisturizer.

Value: 5/5 - It can be expensive but you do get a huge tub for $20. The price is comparable to other eczema products and a little goes a long way with this one.

Quality: 5/5 - I think the quality is very nice for a balm. It is thick and moisturizing and non-greasy.

Effectiveness: 4/5 - I had mixed results with this product, so I think the effectiveness can vary from person to person, depending on their skin condition.

AVEENO® Eczema Care is the Solution

For years I have suffered from dermatitis specifically on my fingertips. Harsh detergents irritate the area and the skin becomes itchy, red, inflamed, and almost raw. Until recently I hadn’t found a product (prescribed or not) that actually provided long term relief; however, I was very fortunate to be accepted through ChickAdvisor to test AVEENO® Eczema Care Itch Relef Balm (#gotitfree). I applied the balm and instantly felt soothing relief ... the balm provided a barrier but it didn’t have a greasy feel to it. The following day I noticed the raw-like redness had disappeared and I didn’t feel pain nor did I feel any itchiness. I was in disbelief! I trusted the process and continued applying the balm regularly and within a few days my fingertips were back to normal. Amazing! The difference was amazing but even more amazing (to me) was that it actually worked! This is worth gold! I most definitely recommend this product to anyone with dermatitis and/or eczema. I will continue using and purchasing it because it is effective, and I think the price is very fair. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth; it’s a high quality product that has thoroughly impressed me.

Effective & Soothing Eczema Care

I received the Aveeno Eczema Care for free from ChickAdvisor and Aveeno. This is an effective product for itch relief and eczema care that healed active flare ups I had on my arms, legs and face! The soothing and calming properties are long-lasting to help stop itching. I think the balm is a bit sticky and leaves a residue after application - I would recommend using this at night or spot treating with it during the day. I think it is the best eczema product I've tried to date. Would repurchase.

PERFECT FOR DRY ITCHY SKIN

Ive never tried a cream quite like this before. I would almost describe the consistency as vaseline mixed with an Aveeno cream. In the winter my skin gets terribly dry. Especially my hands; they also tend to itch because of the dryness. Aveeno Eczema Care has helped me immensely these past few weeks. I highly recommend this to anyone who suffers from eczema or anyone who needs intensive moisture.

Very Impressed, and Relieved...

After receiving this cream for free for review purposes I began using it on my hands as they were dry and chapped because of the cold and dry winter weather. I found the cream to be very helpful. What was most impressive is the results it has had on my daughter; who suffers greatly with dry skin in the winter. This formula seems to have done the trick and has proven to be more effective than any other cream I have previously tried. I am quite impressed!

Conflicted Review

It took me quite a while and several applications on not just myself, but my husband and daughter as well. The following review is based on all of our opinions on the product. I would like to thank ChickAdvisor and Aveeno for allowing me to review this product, free of charge.

To give a background on my family’s need for a product such as Aveeno’s Ezcema Itch Relief Cream ...
Me: Currently taking Accutane low dose for hormonal acne. Skin is very dry. I also have both ezcema and psoriasis.
Daughter: 5yrs old, has very dry skin and keratosis pilaris. She also suffers from ezcema on her hands and feet.
Husband: Doesn’t take care of his skin and is always coming to me when his skin is literally falling off lol

Needless to say, we had lots of use for this product. These are the quick points of our trial;

-Very moisturizing and gentle, nobody reacted to it
- Was very thick and didn’t really absorb into the skin. You were left with it just sitting on your skin and seeing as we have pets, it was a recipe for hair stuck all over
- Stuck to clothes ... felt greasy
- It WAS effective at relieving the itch associated with ezcema and dry skin
- Sadly, nobody saw a difference in their eczema

Overall, I don’t think we would purchase this cream again. I just don’t think it worked for us. I have repurposed it as a hand and foot cream, and I find it absolutely perfect for that. I would probably purchase it if it came in a smaller, purse friendly squeeze tube to be used for this purpose. TIP: if you’re like me and wash your hands a billion times a day and get painfully dry hands, this cream is amazing for that!
