Tasty for non dairy

I bought this by accident when trying to purchase the regular Cherry Garcia because it's my absolute favourite. I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted it, as it was only when I got home from the store that I realized I grabbed the wrong one. Not as cherry-ish as the original, but still pretty good. Would (and have already) recommend to my dairy free friends

Good product ... but, I would prefer another flavour!

It is very difficult to detect that this is a non-dairy product; it is just as rich and creamy as regular ice cream!

The cherry taste is quite overpowering and there are a lot of cherry chunks. If you like maraschino cherries, you should definitely like this product. I am not a fan of the cherry taste, but I have and will definitely continue purchasing the Ben & Jerry's non-dairy line.

It's fine but doesn't compare to the real deal

I did enjoy the PB&Cookies;non-dairy flavour, which I found remarkably creamy, but the Cherry Garcia flavour is a little gummy and weird to me. It still has the same large chunks of cherry and chocolate as in the regular, dairy option, which is good. It's a fine substitute but I wouldn't get this again, not while dairy still exists.

Love that it's dairy free and vegan, but...

So Ben & Jerry's recently came out with this version of ice cream that is dairy free and vegan. A lot of people will be excited to hear this news and run out to purchase it because they think it is a healthier alternative to regular ice cream (but it definitely is great for those who are lactose intolerant or are dairy free). However, a closer inspection of the product's nutritional label shows that there are 25 grams of sugar per ½ cup serving size. THAT'S A LOT OF SUGAR. We are recommended to stay below 20-25 grams of sugar a day, and who actually sticks to the ½ serving size anyways? So I do not recommend this ice cream on that basis.

The ice cream itself is really good. Bit too sweet for my taste, so it definitely is a treat. I enjoy the chunks of cherries and dark chocolate. The texture is quite similar to regular dairy ice cream, which is great for those who are dairy free and think they're missing out on regular ice cream.

Great cherry taste but the ice "cream"is not creamy

I received this product for free as part of Chickadvisor's review club.

I have tasted the original Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream before, it is a classic flavor with a pronounced cherry taste in a very smooth and creamy ice cream. This non-dairy option tries its best to replicate the same flavor using big chunks of real cherries and chocolate, however the base smells very strongly of almonds and without the fruit or chocolate, it doesn't hold much flavor.

To compensate, there is a high sugar content along with corn syrup. This is in no means a healthier alternative but it is ideal for those who are lactose intolerant or vegan. You will not get the same creaminess compared to regular ice cream, this is closer to a sorbet or frozen yogurt type desert.

Retailing at $6.99 at my local Walmart, for the small pint, this is a very expensive product. If you are a glutton, you could finish the small tub in one sitting or share it with another person. I would never purchase this for myself, even the cheapest type of ice cream has more substance than this dairy free alternative.

Worth a try if you need to avoid dairy, otherwise forget it.
