Product Review: Blue Lizard Sensitive Spray SPF 50 (142g)

I received a free sample of Blue Lizard Sensitive Spray SPF 50 in exchange for my honest product review. Thankfully, due to the extreme hot weather we’ve had, I’ve had ample opportunities to use this. Overall, it’s a solid sunscreen option—especially for those with sensitive skin. It lives up to Blue Lizard’s reputation for gentle, dermatologist-recommended formulations, with no harsh chemical irritants or fragrances, which is a big plus.

One of the standout features is that it’s a spray, which is both a pro and a con. On the upside, the spray application means you don’t have to get your hands all greasy or deal with rubbing thick lotion into your skin. It’s quick, convenient, and ideal for on-the-go use—especially at the beach or during outdoor activities.

However, the spray format can also be a drawback. It’s easy to miss spots, especially in hard-to-reach areas like your back or the backs of your legs. Unless someone else is helping you apply it, you might end up with uneven coverage, which is not ideal for sun protection. Additionally, if it’s windy, a good portion of the product can go into the air rather than onto your skin, which feels wasteful.

In terms of performance, though, it offers strong SPF 50 protection, holds up well with water resistance, and doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky residue. It’s a good choice for people with skin sensitivities who prefer a mineral-based sunscreen.

I absolutely love that this sunscreen comes in a spray format, as it makes it quick and easy to apply, and the sunscreen dries on the skin almost immediately, without leaving any hidden white casting! I find it makes it less of a hassle for reapplying throughout the hot summer days!

This is a great product! This is a spray, so it makes it easier and quicker for my husband and kids to apply (as they do not like things that take up too much time). Both my husband and kids wear it daily (they would not bother to put it on if it was not a spray application process, as I also tried the other application type and they never used it!)

We love this sunscreen! It's safe on our skin, rubs in easy and it doesn't irritate our sensitive skin. A spray sunscreen is the only way to go with wiggly young kids.

A Lifesaver for Sensitive Skin

I absolutely love Blue Lizard Sunscreen – Sensitive! As someone with very reactive, fair skin, I’ve struggled for years to find a sunscreen that doesn’t cause breakouts, redness, or that greasy feeling. This one checks every box.

No burns

I tried the Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral SPF 50 Spray recently and overall, I really liked it. It’s great for sensitive skin—no fragrance, no harsh chemicals, and it didn’t cause any irritation for me, which is a big win. I also like that it’s reef-safe and uses zinc oxide for broad spectrum protection.

The spray format is super convenient, especially for quick reapplications. It goes on fairly easily, but you do have to rub it in or it’ll leave a bit of a white cast, especially on medium or darker skin. I noticed it can feel a bit greasy at first, but it settles pretty well and doesn’t feel heavy.

One thing to note—the spray nozzle can be a bit finicky if it gets wet, so just something to be aware of. Also, while it works great for the body, I wouldn’t use it on the face—it’s a bit too rich and could sting if it gets near your eyes.
