Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Frozen Dessert Reviews

Description

Breyers Smooth & Dreamy delivers all the decadence we crave from regular ice cream, but with half the fat and calories. The secret lies in its Cream Press SystemTM - a process that breaks apart the cream into smaller droplets and distributes them more evenly throughout the ice cream to deliver a decadent taste and texture. Whether your tastes are simple or you like something more indulgent, Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream comes in five yummy flavours that’ll suit everyone’s preference: Natural Vanilla Bean, Creamy Chocolate, Mocha Fudge Brownie, Strawberries & Cream, and Dulce de Leche.

I attended the tasting for the new Breyers Smooth and Dreamy Ice Cream. The great thing about this new line of ice cream is that it is half the fat of regular ice cream but still taste like real ice cream. The ice creams ranged from 120 to 140 calories per 1/2 cup which is pretty amazing for ice cream. If I didn't already know that the ice creams were half the fat going into the tasting I would've never guessed it based on tasting them.

I tried both the Creamy Chocolate and the Mocha Fudge Brownie. While both were very creamy and rich, I definitely preferred the Mocha Fudge Brownie. The Creamy Chocolate was a bit too sugary tasting for me while the Mocha Fudge Brownie was fanstastic - I will definitely be buying this in the future and recommending it to my friends - so good!

Thank you to Ali and everyone else who put on this tasting event - you guys did a great job!

I received a coupon from the prodcut review club to purchase this product to try and so first of all thank you!

I found this Ice Cream really good! I tried the chocolate flavour one and really enjoyed it. The claim to being creamy was not mistaken. The ice cream was really creamy and very flavourful. Compared to full fat regular ice cream i did not find a difference at all in taste. I would never have known it was a reduced fat option. There was just as much flavour as any other ice cream out there with full fat. For this reason i would buy this ice cream over any other regualr ice cream. However this ice cream did come with a $9.50 price tag. This is pretty pricy for ice cream and i dont think i could bring myself to pay this much for a tub of ice cream. Though it was very good, i do not think it was worth that much money. I would definetly recommend Breyers smooth and creamy ice cream for its yummy taste, and the reduced calories is just an added bonus.

Not only did i try this product but i had my family try it out as well and they all throughly enjoyed it as well.

I know what I will be getting this summer for desert.

I was fortunate enough to have the chance to review this ice cream, and I have to say this is the creamiest and richest low-fat ice cream I have ever taste. I love everything full-fat, but the mocha flavour totally turned my view around, and allowed me to discover a guilt-free alternative to desert. Would defintely recommend to everyone I know.

And it was so creative that at the event they paired manicures and cocktails with ice cream!

Now armed with a free product coupon, I have a hard decision to make between mocha and dulce de leche...

I tried the Mocha Fudge Brownie flavour of the Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream. It was really good. Very very rich and creamy - honestly, you would not know that this is the low fat version of the ice cream! The mocha flavour was nice, and the fudge is very decadent. You only need a little bit of this ice cream to feel like you've had a treat. It's comparable to gourmet brands like Hagen Daas.

The only downside is the price - at Loblaws, it's $7.99. That's not as much as Hagen Daas, but still, that's a fair bit to pay for a tub of ice cream. If I was feeling like a splurge, I would buy it again.

We are an ice cream loving home. Sometimes we have 3-4 types of ice cream crammed into our freezer. Often I feel very guilty about the fat in ice cream, so when this Breyers smooth and Dreamy came along, I was so excited. Who does not want to indulge in decadent ice cream for a fraction of the fat?

We picked up the mocha fudge flavor. I really really wanted to love it. I ate it slowly, and I tried to find as many positive aspects as I could, but I hate to admit that I was very disappointed.

    First the positive;
    - it is super creamy.
    - I love the texture of the ice cream, it felts luxurious in your mouth.
    - the coffee flavor is nice.

Now, unfortunately, I have some not nice words:
    - it is very sweet. Overly sweet.
    - there was nearly not enough fudge chunks.
    - And when I did get a fudge chunk, they were very hard to chew, and very tough.
    - I found that the ice cream is so 'light and airy' that once you scoop out 2 servings, the container is half finished. This is different then more 'dense' ice cream
    - It cost $6.99 which I found to be on the high end of the price scale

All in all, having a low fat delicious ice cream seems to be an oxymoron - Bryers is working towards cracking this puzzle. I think that this product is on its way to becoming a great low fat product, but for now, unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives.

Which sucks, because as I said, I really really LOVE ice cream.

At $7.99 a tub, Breyers Smooth and Dreamy is the ice cream that I normally walk past in the grocery store. However, armed witha free product coupon, I dove in to test the Strawberries and Cream flavour. My husband and I took the tub to our favorite picnic spot and with a spoon, we discovered little bites of heaven. This ice cream is light, but rich and creamy, and bursting with sweetness.
After a few bites, I started to realize that the texture is so light that it is more foamy than I'd like, and though the taste remained super creamy, I found it became too sweet. I think I prefer a full-fat ice cream for the denser taste.
So though delicious, I don't think I will be buying this low-fat version again. For my family and friends who are concerned about their weights, I will definitely tell them about this ice cream, but personally, I was unsatisfied with the lighter texture.

I loved this ice cream! I tried the creme caramel and the chocolate and they were VERY creamy. None of the bad taste associated with lower fat ice cream at all. The flavours were rich and real. I recommended it to everyone I saw over the May 24.

The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the price, I saw it in the store last weekend for almost $10 a tub!

I was fortunate enough to sample the Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Mocha Fudge Brownie ice cream as part of the Product Review Club, and I'm really glad I was.

Overall, this was a fantastic treat - rich tasting, delicious, and i LOVED the brownie pieces throughout the ice cream. I can say without a doubt that I've never had a better lower-fat ice cream, and there are probably few full-fat ice creams that are this delicious.

However, if I had been paying for this ice cream out of my own pocket, the pricetag would have stopped me in my tracks and that container would still be sitting in the freezer at the grocery store. The regular price at my local Safeway was $8.99, and there is NO WAY I would pay that for a tub of ice cream on a regular basis, no matter how good it is. That said, if I ever see Breyers Smooth & Dreamy on sale, you can bet that it'll make its way into my shopping cart!

I was lucky enough to be a tester for Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream, and I bought Creamy Chocolate. Let me just say that it's difficult to believe that this ice cream is half the fat of regular ice cream, because it sure is creamy!! The taste was delicious too; couldn't tell it was low fat. I had my whole family over for a birthday cake and ice cream and asked everyone how they liked the ice cream. It was unanimous; everyone loved it!! I would definitely recommend it to family (already did that!!) and friends; you gotta try this stuff!!

I had the opportunity to sample and review Breyers Smooth & Dreamy! for the Product Review Club. I picked up a tub of Dulce de Leche at Superstore, where it was retailing for $7.49, the lowest price I could find. Thankfully, as part of the Product Review Club, my tub of Breyers was free. I love ice cream, but not enough to spend that much money, unless it's a special occasion.

Breyers Smooth & Dreamy! is good (hello, it's ice cream!) but it isn't my favourite. Smooth & Dreamy! has a whipped, almost foamy texture to it. It is light and not as creamy and rich as full fat ice cream, despite their claims that the "Cream Press System" delivers a product as creamy as the full fat product. I appreciate that they are trying to market a more "health conscious" product, but I would rather stick to the full fat product and just have less of it. For those that don't have the self control (really, who does all the time?), this would be a suitable alternative.

Although good, Breyers Smooth & Dreamy! was not good enough to make me switch from my preferred ice cream and for special occasions, I would stick with the Breyers All Natural line.
