Burt’s Bees is known for their truly natural products with over half of their 150 product line sporting the 100% Natural bar on their package. They take pride in providing products that are not animal tested and are good for you and the environment. Their product line ranges from lips and face to body and haircare and more recently toothpaste. Their toothpaste line consists of three formulas: Whitening, Kids, and Multicare, all of which are 99.2% or 100% natural in ingredients. The Whitening line packs enough natural whitening power into each tube to brighten teeth in just two weeks. The Kids line promotes teeth brushing by providing fun natural colors and tasty flavors kids will love. The Multicare line features multiple benefits to naturally care for your teeth and gums and is clinically proven to improve oral health.

The Multicare line focuses on promoting teeth and gum health through regular brushing in order to prevent cavities, reduce plaque, whiten teeth and freshen breath. It is made out of real cranberry extract which is known to block bacteria from adhering to teeth and gums, preventing plaque formation before it starts. The product also contains calcium and phosphorous which promotes strong healthy teeth and contains no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners. As with any toothpaste, it is recommended to brush teeth thoroughly, preferably after each meal or at least twice a day.

My experience with the Multicare line was unfavorable. I am not a disciplined person when it comes to taking care of my teeth. I don’t floss regularly even though I should and the most I do is brush my teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. When I started using Burt’s Bees Natural Multicare with Fluoride Toothpaste, I didn’t expect some marvelous transformation in my oral health in terms of how my teeth looked & felt or how my gums would feel, but I did expect my mouth to feel clean and refreshed. I didn’t get of those. The “minty-fresh” flavor the toothpaste claims to have is severely lacking and is so absent that I hardly “tasted” any flavor at all, both during the brushing and afterwards. I didn’t feel like my mouth was minty-fresh. The toothpaste itself is a consistency similar to that of oatmeal, very thick without the grittiness, which made moving the toothpaste around my teeth unnaturally difficult. The paste didn’t glide across my teeth like most pastes do, at least not until I got it worked in some with a bit of water added to my brush. Lastly, the toothpaste does not seem to foam as much as other pastes. In fact, in the times when I did use Burt’s Bees Multicare Toothpaste, I hardly got a foaming mouth which made me feel like I wasn’t getting a good clean. I guess I equate half of a clean mouth to a good lathering of the mouth.

Overall, I was left with feeling like my mouth was never fully fresh and clean and half way through the day, would get the urge to brush my teeth again because my mouth felt disgusting. Despite, less than favorable results, I do love the idea and concept behind the Burt’s Bees Toothpaste line which is a natural and healthy alternative to other popular brands of toothpastes that may contain less than favorable chemicals and ingredients.
