I picked up Catelli Protein+ Penne on a whim while grocery shopping, mostly because I was looking for a way to sneak more protein into my family’s meals without turning dinner into a debate. I wasn’t sure what to expect—let’s be honest, “healthy” pasta doesn’t always mean “tasty” pasta—but I was actually really surprised.

The texture is great. It cooks just like regular pasta, and it doesn’t get mushy or fall apart. I made a baked mac and cheese the first time I used it, and no one in the house noticed it was anything different until I mentioned it. That’s a huge win, especially with picky eaters.

What I love most is the protein content. With 19 grams of protein per 85g serving, it’s such an easy way to make a simple meal feel more balanced—especially on busy weeknights when I’m just tossing together whatever’s in the fridge. It’s also made from plant-based ingredients, which is a nice bonus.

The only thing I noticed is that it has a slightly nuttier flavor than traditional pasta, but it’s really mild. Honestly, I think it adds something to the dish, especially with heartier sauces.

Overall, it’s become a staple in my pantry. I still keep regular pasta around, but more often than not I reach for the Protein+ elbows because I know I’m getting just that little bit more nutrition without sacrificing taste or convenience. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking to upgrade your pasta game without making a big deal out of it.

Love the high protein

The penne makes for the perfect base for a high protein pasta salad. I added chicken and veggies and this was perfect for a high protein lunch before a workout.
The pasta tasted great (unlike other options made from beans or veggies). Perfect for fussy eaters.

I use this noodle to recreate the viral Turkish pasta. I felt good about consuming this pasta as I know it's high in protein. Yes the noodles are vegan but you honestly can't tell the difference. This is such a great product and an easy change to incorporate into your diet!

Elles contiennent 17 grammes de protéines végétales par portion, à base de pois, pois chiches et lentilles – parfait pour ceux qui cherchent à intégrer plus de protéines végétales dans leur alimentation. Firstly, I have to say this was one of my more delicious reviews! Testing out pasta? Sign me up! I was seriously impressed that this protein pasta holds true to the claim that it bas a “classic pasta taste” and does not taste like a “healthier” alternative. Also, it is incredible that one serving has 17g of protein! This penne pasta is so versatile and you can use to make dishes with either a rosé sauce or pesto! I definitely will be buying this pasta again to hit my daily protein goals for my meal preps- highly recommend to try it out for yourself!

My kids love it!

Delicious and high protein!

I am now a big fan of the Protein+ line. Like the other pasta shapes, the penne does not have a distinct flavour or texture compared to regular Catelli pasta. It is a great way to sneak extra protein into your pasta dish. I made mine with traditional pasta sauce and mock chicken for a high-protein, vegan meal.
