I received this as a freebie for a review. I had not used drug store foundation in a few years. To start with I was surprised how well it covered, and how smooth it went on. I really liked it to start with, but after about the third time using it my face starting itching. It took me a little while to remember why. There is something in drug store foundations that my skin does not like. So the only one I can use without my skin itching is Almay. If it wasn't for that I would really like this, because it did work good!

    Pros: Fragrance-free, light-weight, good coverage

Cons: Price (sells for approx. $18.00), packaging

In a Nutshell: A rich and creamy foundation for a natural and flawless look.

    ~ Product Description

This product claims to have the "firming power of a night cream with the flawless coverage of makeup!"

Cover Girl & Olay Facelift Effect Firming Makeup comes in a 30 mL (1FL OZ) tub

    ~ My Experience

I was worried about the night cream claim. I expected a thick and heavy product. But, this is beautifully formulated. It's rich and creamy, glides on smoothly, blends and absorbs easily into the skin and it's incredibly lightweight. It's easy to work with and provides sheer to medium coverage. A thin application made my skin look natural and flawless with none of the heaviness I was worried about. This foundation lasted through my workday and well into the evening (shine-free) and wore evenly without fading or oxidizing.

    ~ Final Thoughts

I like the vibrant purple packaging but would prefer if the product was contained in a tube or pump. Being in a little tub exposes the product to air and light, and also to fingertips, thus decreasing its lifespan. All those “firming effect” ingredients are probably deteriorating every time the tub is opened and the product exposed. Not to mention, the little white disk that keeps the makeup contained picks up some of the foundation each time you remove it. This gets messy after a while.

Cover Girl & Olay Facelift Effect Firming Foundation is a nice, lightweight foundation with a light texture and great long-lasting coverage. I'm not sure about the "facelift" effect, but it's hard to find a foundation that remains fresh and comfortable all day long, and this product delivered on that count.

I too was very surprised with this product. It was very light and smooth and gives wonderful coverage without being heavy, you don't look like you are wearing makeup.

First off I have to say that I didn't care for this foundations packaging. I truly believe they could have come up with a better solution than to use the white lid that’s under the cap of the bottle. It can make a bit of a mess and this package design really won’t work for those that travel and take their makeup along with them. How ever I was able to use the foundation that had gotten onto the white lid just by using my finger tip and once I had it all removed from it, I just tossed that part of the packaging out. I found this foundation to be creamy, spread very nicely and it gave me a nice smooth even look, with out having to use a whole lot of it. I didn’t feel like I was wearing a mask like a lot of other foundations I have tried make me feel and it didn’t sink down into my fine lines like the others tend to do. It stayed right wear I wanted it to stay and was very easily removed at the end of the day. In fact I didn’t feel like I was even wearing makeup, that’s how light it felt on my skin. The shade I picked worked out fine for me, but I really haven’t felt or seen any of the lifting and firming effects that it’s supposed to give you. All though I have only used the CoverGirl FaceLift Effect Firming Makeup twice so far, so I’m hoping after using it daily for a few weeks this may change. Another thing that may not be very appealing to some is their shade choice, they don’t have very many to pick from so you just might find it hard to get the right shade for yourself. Its also a bit pricy for a drug store foundation, I suggest you try and find a good coupon for it before you run out to buy it. The P&G;Brand saver web site usually has some for CoverGirl products. Over all I was pleasantly surprised at just how much I truly do like this foundation and would recommend you give it a try.
