I got this machine for Christmas of 2011. At first I loved it! I read quite a bit. About 6 months in, I started having problems charging it. When I contacted KOBO support I was told that it was the cord and that it was not covered under the year warranty and that I would need to purchase a new one. I found a new cord and things seems ok again. Then the issues with it charging started happening when it was 12 months old. Again, contacted KOBO support and was told the same thing. Now I have a 16 month old machine that is dead as a doornail. It won't charge, I can't reset it, and what does KOBO say... well you will have to purchase a refurbished unit or a new one. These items should last more then a hear and a half. I didn't even use it to the extent where I would have worn it out. I am very disappointed in this product. And if you go to the KOBO website and search the forums, there are a bunch of people who have and the same issue. I would say skip this model all together and pay the extra for an Arc or a newer model. Do your research before purchasing.

I have had my kobo touch e-reader for almost a year and a half. I love it so much. It is so easy to use, I have thousands of books to chose from and it goes everywhere with me. I love that my battery lasts almost a month and when I took it on vacation to the Dominican Republic it lasted the whole trip, was great to use in the sun and was an awesome way to spend the time on the plane. There is NO glare from the sun, which is a great feature and is a big bonus for me.

I love my Kobo! It is so light and easy to take everywhere I go. You wouldn't want to lug around a bunch of books with you everywhere you go, but with the Kobo you really do have that flexibility to do so and it takes up next to no space at all. Perfect for going on vacation, or just sitting around the house with a coffee. It is easy to use and set up.

I've had my Kobo for over a year and it barely leaves my side. The navigation is super simple for adding books and the extra storage is perfect if you have books you didn't buy through the Kobo store. The battery is great. I only have to charge mine twice a week. I like the reading stats. It's something I never thought to keep track of before. Customer service is quick to respond when there is an issue. My Kobo is starting to have issues updating but this is after a year and half of constant use. I will no doubt replace it either with this same model or the Kobo Glo for the book light.

I received my Kobo touch as a gift less than 6 months ago. Well in the last few weeks I had to request assistance from the Kobo Help Centre on numerous occasions as it was no longer charging.

The problem could not be resolved by simple troubleshooting, so the company sent me a new Kobo Touch (after many emails and scanned images/pictures). I was thrilled with not having to go to a store to get a new one. And so far, the new one does not have any problems with charging or downloading.

    However...

I always had difficulty when putting the unit to sleep- when I start it back up another book is open- not the one that I closed. Not a huge deal though, but the problem still exists with my new unit and I have heard from other users that they have the same issue. So be sure to pay attention to what book you are reading :)

I also had difficulties with syncing- I would purchase a book, pay for a book, download it to my Kobo desktop but it would not show up in my Kobo library until several factory resets later. That I found irritating. Not to mention that all the special setting that I implemented were gone because I had to use the factory reset.

The customer service is pretty great, I have only tried via email and they generally get back to you within 24 hours. The website has some good troubleshooting and Q and As, so that helps as well.

I do love the long battery life. I have purchased a case for mine (through eBay), as I do a fair amount of travel. The case keeps it nice and secure-- not to mention protecting it and allowing it to stand on tables without me holding it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I got one for Christmas and I was skeptical about e-readers because I really do love books, but I love it. The only downfall is that I find I go through a book almost too quickly now, but I'm not really complaining about that. I use it all the time. The only problem I've experienced with it is when the battery dies it takes forever for it to recharge and turn on again. Otherwise, I love it!

I received this as a Christmas gift from my husband and daughter this year, and it has been put to good use. As a person who can read two novels a day, and who constantly forgets to return library books on time, it has been the perfect gift. I can use my paypal money earned from surveys and other online activities to good use on the KOBO website to buy new novels and can also check out books online using our public library system. The nice thing about it is, if you're out and about and don't like the book you've "brought" you can easily close it and open another. I find the battery lasts quite a long time, and it charges very quickly through the USB connection. I use this all the time, and you can even load pictures and PDF files for easy viewing when you're on the go. If it ever dies, I will buy another! No more book clutter, library late fees and waiting in line for a book release.
