Lancôme Paris Oscillation Mascara Reviews

Description

With over 7000 oscillations per minute, the PowerBrush precisely distributes formula to lift, separate and intensify every single lash. Lashes are generously wrapped 360° degrees, appearing hyper-extended and visibly multiplied for a most eye opening effect.

I too am a fan of this mascara! I did a review of Lancome's Oscillation and Estee Lauder's on my site when it first came out and also preferred Lancome's. With Lancome's I only need 2 coats for my lashes to stand out. The Estee Lauder version took 4 coats to stand out. The only time my lashes have ever looked this extreme are when I apply fake lashes! From far away or in photos my lashes looked fabulous, but up-close it was just a clumpy mess! To get the clumps out I had to use a razor sharp eyelash brush to comb through it. The oscillating brush definitely makes a difference with lift and coating each lash. However, the tiny rubber-like bristles and oscillation don't seem to do a good job of separating and de-clumping. The whole process is really slow - start at the root and slowly work your way up. I was also told I wouldn't need an eyelash curler but I definitely do. The formula seems so heavy it weighs down my barely-there lashes. I would have given it a higher rating if it weren't for the clumping, but the faux lash effect has got me! If you're going to come out with an innovative mascara with a high price your lashes better look dramatically different!

This is certainly a fun mascara to use! I have tried every vibrating mascara on the market and there are pros and cons to each one. Here's how this mascara compares to the others on the market (in my opinion):

    Pros:
    - Vibrations are really effective at product application. The motor seems to be the strongest in this product over others. You get good movement on the brush to coat all lashes evenly. Maybelline's Pulse Perfection has a similar technology, whereas Estee Lauder's seems to vibrate only in the handle so the brush doesn't move very much.

    - The formula is high quality, non-flaking and holds curl well. I also liked Estee Lauder's formula for this reason.

    - The results are fabulous. My lashes look quite fantastic with this on. I have medium - long eyelashes that are reasonably full, so it's hard for a mascara to look bad on me, but this one looks great. I'd say more dramatic than competitive mascaras.

    - If you like the tickling lash feeling, you will enjoy putting on this mascara. I do because it feels like a mini eyelid massage and it's fun! It feels like you are using a luxurious product.

    - It's easier to use. You pull the tab easily when you first open the mascara, vs. having to insert the battery.

    Cons
    - It's pricey, however if you prefer luxury products you probably won't mind this.

    - You have to hold down the button when you apply the mascara, vs. Estee Lauder's twist of the lid.

Overall, I prefer this mascara to Estee Lauder's because the vibrations are more effective, but both have excellent formulas. If you are on a budget, Maybelline's is a good option for this type of mascara.

This has got to be the best mascara out there!!! I have always used lancome mascara as I find them to give my lashes a full bodied look. When they came out with the oscillating mascara, I knew I had to try it out. The vibrating action separates the lashes, leaving no clumps behind. At the same time, making them look full. It extends and curls your lashes all at the same time. The application is always clean, never messy.

This is a great mascara. I love how it lengthens and adds volume to my lashes. The effect is incredible with added with Lancome CILS booster ER XL mascara base.

The is the best mascara i've tried in awhile. works great alone but also great top on of others. doesn't clump and last all day. Lengthens well on it's own, and when paired with a primer, it gives the impression of luscious lashes. overall great product if you're willing to pay the hefty price tag.

I really did not like it.. It didn't last long and it did clump. The price was $40 so it is expensive for a mascara. I will not be buying it ever again

I absolutely hated this mascara. It was difficult to manage the wand and you had to keep your finger on the switch to keep it oscillating. The mascara clumped terribly and unless you applied ot SUPER SLOW it was horrible

Honestly, what were they thinking? Are people in marketing and R&D;coming together and trying to think of ways to make everything vibrate so they can charge people more? First with the razors now with mascaras?

Okay, aside from the fact that this mascara vibrates and has plastic bristles (which seems to be the trend for most "new" mascaras these days) there really isn't anything else that makes it stand out.

It's not a great mascara. I'm not even sure it's good.... it's decent I guess. I tried used it with the vibrating wand but I find it makes the mascara clump. If I just use the wand as is, without it vibrating, it does a decent job of coating my lashes. I would say it's an average mascara, nothing special to write home about. However, I think it's way over-priced and not really worth the money.

But hey, maybe it works better on people with fuller curly lashes. Unfortunately it doesn't do much for my asian lashes.

So, what is the Lancome Oscillation mascara? Well, it's Lancome's newest innovation: a mascara with a "superior" formula that is applied with a gently vibrating wand. I know. Sounds crazy.

There is a motor in the wand and it sort of hums gently as you apply it. The idea is that the vibration helps the mascara coat each individual lash 360 degrees around, giving you fuller, longer & defined lashes without having to apply with that pesky zig-zag motion that makeup artists (and makeup junkies) use.

When I first heard about this mascara, I thought it sounded pretty nifty. They were toting it as the next great advancement in mascara, as well as a premium product. I understandably had high expectations.

Now I want to preface this by saying I have used other Lancome products and have been happy with them, except for mascaras. I find that the Lancome formulas in general tend to flake a lot at the slightest touch. They are also difficult to remove at the end of the day. This all applies to the Oscillation brand as well. But if you're a die-hard Lancome mascara fan anyway, then don't worry about that.

    PROS
The packaging is beautiful and super-sleek. I was excited to open up my tube!
The tube is not as fat as my other favourite mascara, which makes it easier to stash in my purse
    Lancome generally produces high-quality products
When applied correctly, it did perform as any mascara: darkening and bulking up my lashes slightly
It also seemed to define the individual lashes
After reading the instructions and taking a few practice runs, it became easy to apply it with the vibration on
The vibration is not so strong that you feel like it will get out of control
The final look is somewhat different from what my other mascaras will achieve. Sort of a light mascara look--not too bulky or voluminous

    CONS

The price is a major downside for me. MSRP is $40, and as you'll see in my following comments, I just cannot justify that cost for a simple mascara, especially when you have to replace it every 3 months anyway. (A good point was made by Henna at CanadianBeauty.com that if you're already paying out the nose for a Lancome mascara, then what is $8 more? I can get on board with that, but I still don't think that I would pay that much for ANY mascara, period. All the other posters seem to agree with me!)
The formula sucks. As mentioned before, I don't really like the Lancome mascara formulas, and I don't think they made any major changes to this one
At first, the mascara was difficult to apply. I poked my eye the first time. Not pretty.
The brush is very small--I didn't feel that it was large enough or had enough bristles to adequately reach all of my lashes, I had to keep going over and over to achieve the look I wanted
The formula is clumpy and sticky--The vibrating wand is supposed to help avoid this, but I find it actually makes it worse. I had spider-leg eye lashes! The horror!
The formula is also difficult to build up. I need more volume in my lashes, but one or two coats just didn't cut it. But when I tried to apply more, my lashes stuck together and clumped. ugggh.
The wand did not manage to coat "even the smallest lashes" as promised. I still had to go in manually and poke around to get them coated
    Overall Impressions:

Overall, I don't think this mascara is any better than what I am currently using. Especially considering the price. The vibrating wand is an interesting feature, but I don't feel that it lived up to its claims of producing better-looking lashes. It is definitely not worth the $40 bones to get this bad boy.

Maybe in the next few iterations of this product, Lancome will improve the formula and technology. I think that if they can do that and combine it with a more reasonable price (say, $20 range?) that it could possibly be a smash hit. It certainly is novel!

People will still buy this, some will love it and some will hate it. I don't mind it, but when compared to my run-of-the-mill $5 mascara, its really not that much better. Please do your research and think about it before you buy this puppy!
