I was already pretty skeptical of the sponge to begin with. But the trick is that it is not a beauty blender. It doesnt expand with water because it is not supposed to. You're supposed to roll on the product to the skin. I find the sponge does a decent job of spreading the product because of its moose, thick texture. I have also tried to use it for my under eye concealer and it works pretty well so long as the product isn't liquid. The sponge is pretty stiff though which can make it difficult to use. I wouldn't recommend it if you dont want to waste your money.
I really enjoyed using this product. I had never used a blender of any kind previously but this was nice to use. I did watch youtube videos of reviews where many women said they did not like it at all and said it was awkward to use and too hard. Therefore, I was expecting that I would hate it too. However, I found that I liked it alot but likely because I have small hands so it was not awkward for me to hold. I also liked that the tip allowed for easy application to small and sensitive areas such as under the eyes and the above the upper lip. The only negative I have to say about it is that it is difficult to clean and I was sad that I couldnt get it back as white as it was before use. Other than that, it was great. I got it free as part of the review club but for 8 dollars I would not buy it.
Great price but a not so great product. Felt as though the foam blender was going to separate from the base everytime I used it.
The foundation seemed to soak into the blender and not spread evenly. I would not buy this again.
First impression: I loved that it had a handle and found it very easy to work with but the sponge was alot firmer than I'm used to, it did not absorb water very well and I found for foundation and liquid concealer it picked up alot of product which left very little to apply, HOW EVER it worked amazing for cream/solid based concealer. It would probably be amazing for blending a cream contour aswell. So for a foundation or liquid concealer I would not reccomend it. But for a cream/solid based concealer or cream contour I'd definitely recommend it.
I'm an avid user of sponges to apply my foundation as they make my makeup look less cakey and I prefer the natural finish it gives me, so I'm always down to try sponges. I didn't expect much from this blender since the sponge looked like my really inexpensive sponges and after trying this out, it pretty much gives me the same result as any regular sponge.
Others may not like the handle, but I like how I have something to hold onto- it gives me more control. Definitely not as bouncy and soft as the famous BeautyBlender, but still works. I will continue to use it since it does an okay job at putting product onto my face. I have a small face as well, so it's easily to get into areas my other sponges can't get into.
Thank you ChickAdvisor for sending me this product to test out!
I love the concept of this but not for applying the foundation .. What it is great for it CONCEALER .. I have been using it for applying and blending in my concealer and its working great but just not for the foundation .. I use a beauty blender or a sigma f80 cause they give better coverage and way less time ... I will be using this for concealer thou and it works great for that
I think that the Maybelline Dream blender is both positive and negative. In the positive side, this blender is really soft on the skin and small enough so that I can put it inside my purse or makeup case. It also takes the foundation well on the sponge. On the negative side, I think that it does not blend well on my skin. When I start blending with the blender, it forms different patches on my face, especially on my forehand. Once you blend a bit too much, the sponge absorbs all the foundation. Overall, theis blender is useful and really smooth.
It's the perfect size and works well. I thought the stick part was very odd but if you don't like touching the sponge then I guess this would be nice for you but I personally found it unnecessary. It's difficult to wash as well.
Received this as a tester.
I like the concept of this sponge but I found that the plastic holder part made it hard to blend and properly smooth out foundation. The sponge itself is a bit harder than a Beauty Blender but does soften up once wet. You can get better sponges for less from drugstores so I wouldn't recommend this one. I received this from ChickAdvisor.
The blender is hard, not something im use too. the shape is nice but because it on a stick, cant use it how i use a regular beauty blender! Feel like theres better sponges out there!
