This is definitely an odd applicator. I thought it was going to be like my much beloved beauty blender but on a stick, but this sponge is not even close to that. This blender is very dense so it doesn't make a difference if used wet or dry.
I used this with my foundation and I noticed a few things. First, it gives a really beautiful airbrushed finish to the skin and it feels quite gentle. Despite it's density it managed to soak up a lot of my foundation.
I also hate the fact that this blender is white. It never looks clean, no matter how vigorously I clean it. I feel like I'm never going to get this brush adequately clean enough.
It works but it's just not for me. The lack of cleanliness is just a deal breaker to me, I just wish it was easier to clean. I feel like I'm always using a dirty tool.
I received this product as part of ChickAdvisor's Product Review Club. I thought it was a fun little addition to the Dream Velvet foundation - I've never used a blender before, but I can see why they're so popular! It's definitely nice to not have to touch the foundation with my fingers, leaving them clean and ready to go. The blender itself is soft and smooth on the face, and easy to use as an applicator. Definitely enjoy this product!
Firstly, I need to state that I have never-ever seen such a product. I only expected to get a foundation and was almost shocked (in a good way) to discover this item inside my chick advisor box.
I opened it immediately and used the next day to work.
I will tell you that no other sponge will grant such quality and smoothness of the look!
The great thing about the Dream Blender is the fact that it does not look like a regular sponge. I would compare it to a stylus you use for your e-reader or cell-phone. As a result, it gets the foundation in the most hidden places like the area around your lips or near the nose.
I did not apply the foundation with my hands and, instead, dabbed the blender in it. It worked great. Still, the instructions offer the "hands" option. Th handle turned out very convenient here, especially for those moments when I already applied some hand cream and did not want to wash the hands from the foundation.
Finally, I liked how soft the sponge felt on the skin which is super-important for the rainy days in Vancouver when your face starts shedding old epithelium in the morning and feels really sensitive.
To sum up, I will definitely buy a couple of those for my friends and mom!
I received this for free from chickadvisor along with the dream velvet foundation. I have tried this with the foundation that it came with and it delivered great coverage. If you wet it, you can achieve a nice light coverage with it. I enjoyed using this and will purchase again. Thanks ChickAdvisor
I reviewed the Maybelline New York Dream Blender free for Chikadvisor. I usually apply my foundation with my fingertips, so it was challenging for me to adapt to the Dream Blender and definitely took a week or so before I felt confident with easily using a tool for application. While I liked it, I do feel $7.99 is too steep for an application tool. I'm cheap, perhaps. If it was priced lower or coupled in a deal with the foundation, I would purchase it. Simply not keen on the price point.
I received the Maybelline New York Dream Blender sponge to try and review along with the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation. This sponge blender did not work well for me. I did apply it by swiping or buffing the foundation in as is directed but I found it made my foundation look patchy and streaky. I tried it damp as well as dry and didn't notice a difference. There is no point to try and pounce or push the foundation into the skin with this sponge as it will just pick up and remove product instead of blend it in. I didn't enjoy this blending sponge for its intended use, but I do find it useful for applying loose powder under the eyes to bake my concealer. It might also be useful for applying cream contour, due to its smaller size, though I have yet to test that. Overall I think most of us are hooked on either the BeautyBlender or the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, and this one just doesn't do what those can do in terms of making your foundation and overall look flawless.
I got this beauty blender free to try with the maybelline dream velvet foundation. It is a pretty good blender but it is attached to a handle making it hard to blend and wash. I prefer a "free style" blender.
I received this product to try as part of Chickadvisor's Review Club. It was my first time trying a blender tool so I found it interesting to use but the blender kind of absorbed too much of the foundation. Also it is hard to clean due to the handle but it was great to apply makeup to hard to reach areas such as the nose area.
The blender lets you seamlessly blend foundations and bb creams on your face. I found I had to use less product than I normally would if I had used my hands.
