Worth it for black coffee lovers
As someone who can't start the day without a strong cup of coffee, I was excited to try McCafé's Dark Roast. And thanks to Butterly, I got to enjoy it for free!
Right off the bat, the aroma was enticing. It filled the room with a rich, dark scent that promised a bold flavor. The coffee itself delivered on that promise. It's a full-bodied brew with a robust, almost smoky taste. The bitterness is balanced with a hint of sweetness, making it a satisfying and complex cup.
While I appreciate the bold flavor, I did find it a bit too intense for my taste. It might be overwhelming for those who prefer a milder coffee. However, if you're a fan of strong, dark roasts, you'll likely enjoy this one.
Overall, McCafé's Dark Roast is a decent coffee, especially considering its affordability. It's a great option for those who need a strong pick-me-up, but it might not be the best choice for everyone.
Perfect breakfast in a cup!
Upon brewing you immediately get a whiff of the nice aroma. Comes out nice and foamy. It has a smooth taste, almost velvet. I drink my coffee black and this one is not too strong just perfect for an early morning pick-me-up.
Better than original capsules!
Starting my day with McCafé
My job requires me to be up and ready very early in the morning, which means I drink coffee all day! I like my coffee strong, black, and I never add sugar. I like the full flavor of my coffee, but I do not like the bitterness. I used to drink a lot of Nespresso capsules but did not really like the aftertaste. These McCafé dark roast espresso capsules are a real pleasure! I like the strength and there is absolutely no bitterness or aftertaste. It creates a beautiful foam on top of the coffee, which I enjoy even more. The flavor is rich and has a hint of dark chocolate. These capsules also make it very easy to transport – for example on my early morning work!
I am a big fan of McCafé products in general, so I was delighted to find them in Nespresso capsules. I worked at McDonald's for years and it was my favorite coffee - regular roast of course. I was super happy with this dark roast, as it tasted even better!
Real Espresso Taste
I have espresso everyday and freshly grind my beans. This pod actually tastes like authentic espresso. Very happy with the quality and compostable pod. Has a really good crema and rich taste.
McDonalds Dark Roast
This coffee is so delicious! I love that I was able to use it in my nespresso machine as well. I turned it into a vanilla latte this morning, and I think it will now become a part of my daily routine.
McCafe Dark Roast Espresso Capsules
Well-balanced, great tasting espresso. I was pleasantly surprised by how this created a froth on top and how it tasted authentic. Being an Italian, I grew up with traditional stove-top exspresso. This is very close to that experience.
Perfect companion for cold winter mornings
Nothing beats a good cup of hot coffee in a cold gloomy weather ☕️ Love the chocolatey flavor with a hint of almond 👌🏼 Perfect companion for cold winter mornings 🤎
McDonald’s in your kitchen
Coffee was great and exactly how I expected it to be ! The dark roast is definitely my favorite and would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a bold coffee
Delicious!
This has a smooth taste and I like the convenience of the product. I like the strong intensity and it's an overall great value. It tastes just as good as when you go to a McCafé location!
I love coffee!
I have many methods of making coffee at home, including a Nespresso machine that uses the original capsules. The Nespresso is perfect for grabbing a delicious cup of coffee when you have little time and for easily trying different blends without grabbing a big bag of beans.
Not only can you grab the original coffee capsules directly from Nespresso but you can also grab them from a variety of suppliers at the local grocery store.
Given that I love coffee, I was very excited to receive the McCafe Dark Roast Espresso capsules from Butterly and McCafe for free to try!
Now I’m a big fan of a dark roast and bold coffees, so I this espresso being rated as an 8 out of 10 for darkness was exciting. However, I was still skeptical as to whether it would really be a dark roast or not because I have been let down in the past by such claims.
I tried the espresso in a few different ways, straight espresso shot, as an Americano, and as a latte. I have to say that while this coffee is fairly rounded and balanced, it isn’t a dark roast in my opinion. It lacks depth and that dark roast punch. If I compare a dark roast espresso, specially an 8, from a Nespresso, they would not be equals.
As I said it is fairly balanced and smooth, particularly in a latte, but it lacks overall depth and intensity.
These capsules also come in a compostable format. The downside of that is that it is a commercially compostable format. So this means you have to go to a specific website, sign up for an account, and print a label to attach to a return bag of capsules, you also have to find a UPS location to drop it at. While I am happy that there is a means to look after the capsules, it is unfortunately not the easiest process overall. Not everybody even has a printer anymore, so I worry most of these will just end up in the garbage and not sent back.
Overall, the espresso is ok but not my first option. If you do like a fairly balanced coffee but not so much a dark roast I would recommend trying the McCafe Dark Roast espresso and seeing what you think.
