My dog could have died today. This is a choking hazard.

Today I gave my beloved 12 yr old springer spaniel/beagle mix Lilly a Milkbone brushing chew. She was choking and she could have died. It was traumatizing and terrifying. Luckily she's OK. She likes to play with her treats and holds them off the floor the whole time; probably because she doesn't want the other dog to try to take it. Sometimes she even does a cute little trick where she throws it a little bit up and then catches it with her mouth. She was doing that but then she kept doing it... and started to panic like she couldn't breathe and luckily we could easily take it out with our fingers.
I think there is a potential design flaw in this product people should be aware of... they are very skinny and could easily slip down the windpipe and cause obstruction. They are also weirdly slick in texture. They feel slippery, almost as if they were coated in shellac. This never happened with Dentasticks which I have given them regularly for a long time. From now on I will only give little chewy bite sized treats. Please be careful with this product, especially if you have a senior dog, a dog with dental problems or an enthusiastic eater that doesn't chew much. I will never buy another brushing chew as long as I live. The regular milkbones don't have the weird slick texture.
