93% OF CHICKS DIG IT
First, a big thank you to Chick Advisor for including me in the Nestle Mousse Chocolate Review.
In an effort to get as much feedback as possible for my review, I enlisted two of my best male chums. I found it interesting that, as I dove into the chocolate, they were interested in the mechanism of the box (ah, how our brains do differ...). So, let's start with the box itself:
Package design: This is intriguing and unique as far as "drugstore" chocolate goes, and we all liked that it opens sideways. In particular, we liked the handsome black box for the dark chocolate, and we all agreed that this is the one we would give if we were buying to give as a gift.
Tab and Mechanics: This is the only place where we unanimously found a negative. The little gold tab was really hard to deal with. In fact, my manicured fingernails came in handy for digging it out. The boys resorted to using a knife to pry it up. Then, when it came time to seal the box closed (you're supposed to put the tab into a slot) the paper just wasn't strong or thick enough, and it crumpled up (not a good thing). The process was too finicky, and would try the patience of most people, including us. The saving grace was that, since we polished off the chocolates in one go, it wasn't necessary to re-seal the boxes, but in another case, we'd probably close the box with a piece of tape or by putting something heavy on top to keep the lid down.
Grammar: Not sure if anyone else noticed, but the writing on the inside of the box appears to use the semi-colon incorrectly. After the words See, Smell, Hear, Touch, Feel, it seems that there should be a full colon. Colon: used to separate an explanation from the preceding independent clause.
Presentation in box: It's lovely to discover that, inside, it's like a traditional box of chocolates, with a modern twist because the chocolates themselves are a unique and interesting shape. The box would be perfect to pass around the office as a little pick-me-up, with much more share-ability than, say, a chocolate bar.
Okay, now about the chocolate...
Mousse Filling: bubbly, smooth, creamy texture. It's somewhere on the spectrum between chocolate icing and mousse and brownie.
Outer shell: Dark or milk, the contrast between the outer shell and inner mousse was really nice.
Texure: melts in your mouth!!!!! Wonderful texture.
Size: one bite or two, it's all good.
Milk chocolate: we all agreed that this version is verrrrry sweet, not for the faint of heart.
Dark: across the board, we loved this one!! You can really taste the cocoa; a more complex flavour.
Verdict: Hands-down, we love everything about the Dark Chocolate. The box is black and elegant; the gold writing is easy to read against the black background; the dark chocolate flavour is not too sweet. A winner. The milk, while really nice, has a sweetness that verges on cloying.
When Would Buy: In what context would we purchase this product? It would be the perfect anytime-treat to give to a friend who offered us a lift to work or to the co-worker who stayed late to help debug our computer.
Price: The price point is more than for a chocolate bar, yet totally affordable and perfect for an impulse buy when you want "better" than a bar. The elegance of the packaging and font-type is right up there with a nice box of chocolates yet the chocolate quality is more drugstore than boutique, which, when it comes to chocolate, is totally fine.
Would We Purchase: Absolutely!!
This product is that perfect in-between when you want that extra-something, for yourself or for a friend. Definitely recommend it!!
I had the pleasure of trying the Nestle Noir Mousse Delicate chocolates. All I can stay is HEAVENLY! The packaging was fantastic; each chocolate was placed into separate compartments in the box. Because they were delivered by mail, they were in the softer side so I decided to pop them in the fridge before eating them. There are 10 pieces in each box; each piece is about 50 calories. I preferred the milk chocolate while my co-tester preferred the dark one. The inner "mousse" reminded me almost like how an Aero bar tastes like and how it instantly melts in your mouth.
I tried both the dark and milk chocolate versions and I enjoyed them both equally. The packaging was convenient to get into and the container kept the chocolate fresh for the two weeks they lasted in my house. The chocolate mousse centre was very light and creamy at the same time. I liked the shape of the hard outer shell and the size of each chocolate was well worth the overall price. Everyone in my family loved them so much so I had to hide them from my mom who is a chocolate addict! I recommend these chocolates highly!
I love chocolate especially with nuts, icewine or coffee beans - so I kind of find these boring? I do like plain chocolate, I just expected a little more from this based on the product claims. I didn't find the filling to be particularly 'mousse-y'; with that said, the chocolate itself wasn't bad. I preferred the dark over the milk version (I received both from the Product Review Club) because it wasn't as sweet. All in all, for its price, it's not a bad value; it's good to eat as a quick snack - it just wouldn't be the first thing I'd reach for when I wanted to buy chocolate.
This version was good, but i definitely preferred the dark as i found the milk chocolate version too sweet. As with the other, i'm amazed with the packaging. great alternative to the all the other chocolates found in stores. the gooey mousse inside has me coming back for more, shared some with a friend and she said that it reminded her of a brownie. overall, great chocolate..
While this chocolate was absolutely delicious I much prefer the dark chocolate version. The milk chocolate squares have milk chocolate on the outside and dark chocolate mousse on the inside. I think this combination is a good idea because it would be too sickly sweet if it was milk chocolate through and through. The chocolate shell is just delicate enough, and the mousse inside is divine. My liking the dark chocolate squares better is simply a matter of personal preference when it comes to chocolate. Both are equally delicious and I would definitely buy them again.
As some other reviewers have mentioned, the box is a little fiddly, but once you figure it out it does keep the chocolates sealed quite nicely. Also on the topic on packaging, I do not think it is excessive at all.
The first thing you notice about this is the packaging. Very very nice packaging. And I am a total sucker for a pretty package. It just makes the chocolate seem so much fancier, and totally adds to the experience.
You feel fancy eating it :)
The taste - it`s really good. Chocolate shell on the outside and bubbly, creamy mousse on the inside. It reminded me slightly of an Aero bar, but much more decadent.
Also, this is the first time I enjoed milk choclate over dark chocolate. The dark chocolate tasted a bit too harsh. Dark chocolate usually has a more refined flavour but this dark one tasted cheap. But the milk chocolate was yummy!
I would definitely reccommend people who like areo bars, or creamy chocolate fillings to purchase this chocolate! A fabulous little after dinner dessert. Yum!
I must say, I was really really excited to try these which is all thanks to the product review club. When Nestle first came out with the Noir line a year or so ago, I was thrilled because there aren't many quality dark chocolate brands out there. Since then I have tried pretty much all of their chocolates but my favourite has to be the Eclat Noir - the one with the caramelized cocoa bits ( I love it so much, there is one sitting in my pantry right now). One thing I have noticed with Nestle Noir is that their offerings are very similar to what Lindt has. Nestle Noir's new Mousse Delicate is no exception. When I first saw it, it immediately put me in mind of Lindt's Petit Desserts Chocolate Mousse line which I also love so I really really had to try this one!
I have to say, I really did enjoy these although I found it a bit too rich. I thought both the dark chocolate and the milk chocolate outter shells were nice and the mousse inside really rich, dark, sweet and smooth. I do wish the mousse wasn't so "wet" if that makes any sense. These would be perfect with a tall glass of milk. I would also hope that they came with more flavours like their chocolate bar line. The thing I liked about Lindt's Petit Desserts Chocolate Mousse that I wish Nestle had was the Hazelnut mousse filling. It has little tiny bits of hazelnut in it's mousse which I thought was pretty good. Hoepfully. Nestle comes up with something similar or other varieties to try out.
One more thing to bring up. I absolutely hate the packaging. I mean, it's pretty and all, but not very practical. The box opens up like a book with no real enclosure. The contents can easily be spilled and the chocolates do not remain fresh for long due to it's exposure to the air.
All in all, I do like these and am looking forward to what Nestle Noir comes up with next.
Wow wow WOW!!!!! The texture is perfect! So smooth! It melts in your mouth. The packaging is lovely as well! I definitely recommend this!! I will be buying this for friends and family. Makes a perfect gift!
So I got a chance to try out the Nestle NOIR milk and dark chocolate and I gotta say that I love the packaging. It makes it look so much more richer (expensive) than the actual price. The taste is very contrasting between the two. The milk chocolate is very very light which I like as you can eat more of it without feeling overwhelm with the taste. The dark chocolate is much stronger in terms of stimulating your taste buds. I can only eat one with a rest before having another one. I actually shared them with some friends and they love the dark one more because it has more zest to it. I personally like the milk one better.
