Tiny iron boost-taste not tiny
I tried PediaFer Iron Supplement for the our 1 yo niece and noticed more activite , energy and better appetite. It definetly improved the health for sure.
My kids did not enjoy this!
PediaFer™ Iron Supplement needs to improve the taste - my kids were not fans which resulted in them not wanting to repeat use. The product also stains clothing which does not come out in the laundry.
Although very easy to administer with the dropper that has very clear markings which makes measuring and administering the precise dose simple. I love that the dropper stores inside the bottle so I don't have to go looking for dropper or wash it after each use.
It did not cause any discomfort or adverse side effects with my kids.
Does the Job, but Be Prepared for the Mess
Reason for Purchase: Our paediatrician recommended iron supplementation to help prevent iron deficiency.
Thoughts:
1. Effectiveness: From a health standpoint, it seems to do what it is supposed to do, and we have continued using it as advised by our paediatrician.
2. Taste Tolerance: The lemon flavor is just okay. My child does take it now, but there was some gagging early on. That said, it is still more tolerable than other iron supplements we tried that tasted like intense cough syrup.
3. Ease of Dosing: The included dropper allows for accurate measurement and is convenient to store inside the bottle. We eventually switched to disposable 1 mL syringes, which made daily dosing much easier and less messy.
4. Comparison to Alternatives: I appreciate that this product does not contain alcohol, which some other iron supplements surprisingly do. Overall, it is a better option than several “yummy” versions that turned out to be worse.
5. Major Downside Staining: This stains absolutely everything it touches — clothes, bibs, skin, and surfaces. Once it stains, it is nearly impossible to remove, even with stain removers like Tide To Go.
6. Long-Term Use Reality: We have been using it consistently without major issues, but the staining means you have to be extremely careful every single time it is given.
7. Overall Impression: It works and my child takes it, which is important, but the staining alone makes it difficult to fully recommend without reservations.
Bad taste & smell, but it works!
PediaFer iron drops are so easy to use as they come with the dropper. The smell and taste are pretty bad but mixing it in with food definitely helps, and the baby doesn’t notice it then. The iron supplements have improved my baby’s iron count & we are very happy with the results! I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for an effective, easy to use iron supplement for your child.
It’s alright
It was easy to use but my daughter did not like the taste. I tried it as well and it doesn’t really taste like lemon, the iron/blood/rust flavour overpowers. I didn’t necessarily see a change to my daughter’s health but it is nice to know she’s getting enough iron when administered daily.
Iron supplement
I really wanted Pediafer iron supplements to work for my 2 year old kid. For some reason she hated the way it tastes, every time she would grimace and ask for water right after. I tasted and it’s true it does have a pleasant taste but doable. It’s really tricky to open the bottle and the eye dropper doesn’t work super well. Also both time I gave it to my kid before bed time she wasn’t calm and had a hard time to settle down to sleep… Iron is important for babies so i’ll keep trying to give it to her maybe earlier in the day and mixed with water. #gotitfree
Decent
Easy to use with the dropper. My daughter is 2.5 years old. She didn’t particularly like the taste of it though. Still so early to know if it makes an impact on her iron.
Supplements iron deficiency but flavour is off
My toddler is on the lower range of the normal levels for iron so his doctor recommend he takes iron supplements. We've tried ferramax which only came in cherry flavour and he wasn't a fan. We came across Pediafer and I was glad it wasn't cherry flavour. He was willing to take it but reluctantly. It's better than Ferramax flavour wise and does the job but don't expect this to be a true fruit flavour where kids will not face a yucky face after taking it.
Good price but overwhelming taste
I love the dropper that attaches to the container! Lemon flavour also works well to mix with juice. However, nothing was able to offset the iron aftertaste. Other supplements hide it a bit better and also include b12, which this one doesn’t. It is a good price though.
