Yummy!

I picked up these Jackfruit Kebabs by @plantropylife (in collab with Butterly) and tried it out for dinner tonight!

We aren't usually in search of meat alternatives but it's really nice to have the option once in a while, just to see what's out there.

These are soy free, with no artificial flavors, no added sugars, gluten free, are cholesterol free, whole plant based, high in fibre, and made of jackfruit.

These were super easy to cook, we just thawed them out and threw them on the grill for a few minutes. Upon first glance, it doesn't look super appetizing, but once grilled and cooked, it looked like regular kebabs!
The texture was impressive, it totally reminded me of ground meat, and was seasoned and spiced perfectly. This reminded me of East Indian barbequed meats, but not as strong of a flavour so one could definitely change up the flavour with sauces. But there was little bit of a spicy kick that my little ones had a hard time with. Personally I really enjoyed it!
I had a hard time locating these at first, even using the website's product locator, but was able to find these at Your Independent Grocer's in St Albert.

I think my favorite part was that this product was super tasty and didn't taste or feel 'artificial' at all! Not bad at all!

Quick, simple, and delicious

If you’re in need of an easy meal that you can quickly prepare with minimal clean up AND without feeling too guilty about eating - then these kebabs are a great option. They are free of cholesterol, soy, gluten, sugar and sulphite while also being rich in fibre and have zero trans fat.
I particularly enjoyed air frying these kebabs and they turned out perfect. I was quite surprised by the texture and flavour of these kebabs. It was a little on the spicy side for me but paired with the right ingredients it taste great. I made pitas but the versatility is endless. You can’t even tell they are made from jackfruit!

A different take on kebabs!

This was definitely a unique flavour, I’ve never had anything like it! The kebabs have so many healthy factors, which are great for me, like no cholesterol and lots of fibre! I cooked them on the stove but I think they would also be great on the BBQ, I would serve them as a side dish with maybe a leafy green salad.

These kebabs are quick and easy to prepare; whether you steam, grill or fry them! We even put a couple in the air fryer, which I recommend! As a mom of two littles, I love the idea of plant based dishes that I can cook in 2-3 minutes. I was surprised there was no mention that it packed some heat, as my family noticed it as well. Although the seasoning and spice was a bit overpowering for my personal taste I’d love to try more flavours.

Very good vegetarian kebab option

I’m not vegetarian but I enjoy vegetarian meat options because I don’t always like the real meat taste and smell. However, some imitation meat products don’t have the right texture or flavour. This product was actually quite good especially for the texture. I quite like the fibrous texture the jackfruit provided. The flavour was mildly spicy and salty on its own but tasted great with yogurt dipping sauce. The product was light and it was perfect served as a healthy snack. The product was also very easy and fast to cook from frozen.

Love these kebabs as a meat free alternative. I was pleasantly surprised with the texture, it was nice and chewy! They did have a bit of spice but with some sauce it was great

I had the opportunity to try the Plantropy Jackfruit Kebabs, gifted by @plantropylife and @thisisbutterly in exchange for my honest review. The texture is pleasantly chewy, and the jackfruit flavor comes through beautifully — it’s a delicious and satisfying plant-based alternative to meat!

My little one, who’s usually quite picky, actually said it was yummy, which is a big win! Although it was a bit too spicy for her to eat much, it’s definitely approved. If you enjoy bold, savory flavors with a hint of spice, this one’s worth a try!
